Monty
I have 2 company's in houses around a road crossing.' My opponent just drove 3 Pnz IV to the crossing, they are about 15 to 20 meters from my men. I ordered a few squads to target the tanks (no movement command), they threw a few molotov cocktails (no effect) but refuse to use grenades. Do i have to try another command like assault or move combined with target ? They are veteran squads under command of HQ. I have no pioneer or FT unit nearby sadly. SgtMuhammed
No, you don't have to give them any orders. They will do it on their own. I don't think they will throw grenades till they are out of molotovs.
Redwolf
You have to wait until the Molotovs are out. Alternativly, use the HQ, they seem much more effective than squads.
Ant
Do i have to try another command like assault or move combined with target ?The 'follow vehicle' command is the one for assaulting enemy vehicles, but as SgtGoody said, if they're within range I think they'll do it automatically.
Monty
Thanks Ill try the HQ unit first. btw i lost 2 squads because the tanks targetted the houses, i guess its a good tactic of my opponent to wait till squads of me give away there postition, on the other hand IF i had pioneer and/or FT units in the houses, he had lost his precious tanks allready. Other Means
i think the problem is the tank firing on them. IIRC squads will only close assault if they have no pin value. hide them for a bit, or get them out of the line of fire.

xerxes
Your men will only close assault when they feel it's a good opportunity. That sometimes means they'll sit within close assault range for a minute or two without doing anything. Sometimes they'll start close assaulting as soon as the tank gets in range. Troop quality, suppression, etc. all seem to make a difference. Frustrating, but you can't simply order your soldiers to close assault a tank. Rather historical since most soldiers wanted to stay away from enemy tanks.
Monty
Hehehe Jaws, i was rather surprised when you Blitzkrieged those panzers without inf. support to that road crossing i can tell you. But if my men do nothing, its a good tactic maybe, the flag is neutral and it seems to get into a draw... Monty aka Mossie
