The Turkish Factor: Turkey Joins the allied cause in Sept. 1939 to Fight their rival Italy. What follows is a battleship war in the Med, and leads up tO the Franco-Anglo-Greco-Turk invasion of Italy, meanwhile, the allied player must hold the westernfront. Because Germany wont stay occupied with Poland for long.

PS. Turkey and Greece are allied only because Italy has invaded Greece and Turkey is fighting Italy.

Sorry Carl, but that is totally unrealistic.

I live in Greece and the Greeks absolutely HATE the Turks. No doubt about it.

IF in your scenario, the Italians invaded Greece, there is no way in hell that the Greeks would allow the Turks into help. You have to remember, Greek independence from Turkey occured in 1821, after some 400 years of Turkish occupation. As recently as the 1920s, the Greeks and Turks were fighting for land up north by the Dardanelles, as the Greeks tried to take back land from Turkey. Remember when Attaturk took power, the Turks continued their "ethnic cleansing" (that began against the Kurds and the Armenians) against the Greeks. Thats not to say that the Greeks didnt commit atrocities also, however I hardly think they would take their help against the Italians. If anything the Greeks would probably agree to a cease fire with the Italians and fight the Turks with the Italians!!!!

OK, im no fool when it comes to history, however. Given certain circumstances, some seemingly sworn enemies will join to fight a common enemy. The most prominent of cases it the Allied alliance of WW2, With the soviets and americans helping each other. Or perhaps you would prefer the alliance during the Boxer Rebellion wth the White russians, japanese, americans, british, french, germans, austrians fighting the rebels. I know that the Turk-Greco relationship is different than this(Gaugemela),but if the italians were threatening turkish assets in the Med they would fight them in anyway shape or form. It just so happens, that greece has already been attacked.

This whole idea came upon me when reading about the islands off turkey's coast that were given to the italians after WW1, this simply shows their way of getting back at the Romans- er- Italians.

PS Stalingrod, you got it.

BTW im sending u a copy willard!

Why wouldn't the US and Russia cooperate during WOII. The cold war had not started yet. It was Churchil who had problems with Russia, not Roosevelt. Only at the end of the war the relations weakened, when they were dividing germany.

Whoa there. Ur right it was Churchill who despised the bolshoviks. However, the 'odd couple' i was refering to was a Democracy helping a Socialist-Communist state. Just because Roosevelt was a communist(which is why he let pearl happen, to save his beloved communism, no debate please, perhaps in another post) doesnt mean it was a match made in heaven.
