Comrade Trapp Posted August 14, 2003 Share Posted August 14, 2003 I would highly recommend stopping in Charleston, SC to see the USS Yorktown (CV-10) (Essex Class). If you enjoy WWII history you would enjoy being onboard the Yorktown. Your pretty much allowed to go anywhere on the ship that want without a tour guide, personally, I enjoy these things more when your allowed to go around by yourself. Its also nice to be allowed to have lunch in the enlisted mess area. The destroyer USS Laffey (DD-724), Coast Guard cutter USCGC Ingham (WHEC-35), and the diesel attack boat USS Clamagore (SS-343) are all docked nearby, all except the attack boat USS Clamagore saw action in WWII.
