Iron Ranger's Survey for V1.07 Patch

Be patient, gentlemen. We have been pleasantly surprised by Hubert in the past. We will likely be pleasantly surprised in the future. He already knows what the major issues are and knows better than ANY of us what the possible solutions are, but it takes time to reprogram the code and playtest new features. Lots of time. It's not like the guy has closed up shop and moved to villa in Cancun. (You haven't, have you, Hubert??) When he's ready to announce something, he will. Let's be patient. ;)

If you do not post here, does that mean?

That you do not exist,

officially?

If you do post here,

but DO NOT indicate any preference,

does that mean that you DO exist, BUT

you are indecisive, or possibly worse,

merely being... CONTRARY?

If you make a comment like this,

does that mean that you are

megolamanic, melodramatic,

or, like most of the 60s

sort, then AND now, just... Self indulgent?

I like Marlon Brando's line

in The Wild Ones

(... which, for all forum Cinema buffs,

was originally titled - "Hot Blood")

when someone asked: "What are you

rebelling against?"

He, outfit

in VERY CLEAN, unsullied leathers, replied:

"What have you got?"

Well, survey or petition or plea,

socialist, capitalist or green,

I cast my vote for... some of each! ;)

Bill

We aren't doing this in the spirit of a lynch mob, nor are we saying it has to be patched by this afternoon or next week or next year. All we're doing is advising Hubert whether or not we feel SC 1 should be further refined before going on to SC 2 .

If SC 2 replaces the present version of the game then the matter is made irrelevant.

But if SC 2 is the Pacific Theater and SC 1 continues to represent the Atlantic Theater, then the issue becomes more significant.

If the present game is going to remain as the European War, then things like the monster aircraft carrier in port defect should be taken care of, along with the initial Soviet and Italian OBs and odd items.

Immer

The orange sun sets over the desert,

Belmondo muses over a cactus flower,

it's simple for James Dean and --

Jack Kerouac who need only remain Icons.

But those who remain must make decisions.

Darkness thickens. Straightening he tells the cooling, though still warm breeze,

"Both, and don't make it a drag."

Miles away coyotes sing, rejoicing in response.

Unmeasured time passes.

He moves,

grains of sand crunch lightly beneath his boots.

Scorpions scurry hungrily in the night.

A patient '57 Black & Gold

FORD Fairlane w/blown-open

2 8 9 engine,

And nifty Hurst Synchro-shifter awaits his return.

Ah La La, JJ...

The New Jersey Dance Man

A-parade in the street... you teeter

Un-sheathed claw to heel,

Like that mad cat in the midst

Of a mid-summer leap - ! ! !

Between,

Three bird-infest trees... sure! you bet,

It's a pleasure

To see... Poetics,

Plain & simple.

Far

Far better than it's diametric opposite:

Babbled foul language,

That's East-West

Unblessed, and... purposely

Misunderstood... and, yea,

Belmondo surely awaits,

But fugue awhile and re-call,

That was... a '57 Black & Gold

FORD Fairlane w/blown-open

2 8 9 engine,

And nifty Hurst Synchro-shifter,

If you please! smile.gif

Immer my friend, the correction has been made with the entire poem rewritten utilising residual inspiration.

Thoroughly enjoyed it -- a crude imitation of the master and surely the sincerest form of flattery. smile.gif

Les,

Agreed.

If I'd have chosen my words a little better from the start, used survey instead of petition and add a negative option it might have gone that way. As it is there have still been a lot of cut and dry responses.

In any case it's my fault it didn't go through more smoothly. Next time something like this comes up I'll choose my words more accurately.

Both... Although to be fair, I'm not really sure what is on the ballot.

Which flaws should be fixed, and which enhancements should be made?

Are we sure there will be a SC2?

Being a financial guy, I'd say Hubert is best off making SC2, a product he can charge for. Of course he has to trade that off with ensuring customers are satisfied with what is already delivered. Am I satisfied with SC 1.06? Absolutely! Do I want it better? Absolutely!

By the way, has SC made large sales? I see Combat Mission BB has made "game of the year for 2002" by PC Gamers magazine (I may misquote since I don't have the mag handy and forget their shifting titles). Congrats, Hubert on the honour.

I only ask about sales for SC because I see a lot of the same names posting. A few dozen die hards tongue.gif ... uh, I mean war generals :D well, ultimately, consumers ;) . I hope sales warrant the kind of attention we ask for ... both because I'm selfish for more of this good game, and because I think the designer deserves success.

The basic premise was we'd leave the correction or corrections and gameplay improvement/improvements to Hubert's discretion as he's been reading everyone's suggestions all along and is the only one who knows what can or can't be easily incorporated into a last patch.

There is money in SC 2, but it's better business and more money to stick by the people who have supported your product.

Liam

We've been doing that all along and people are welcome to keep doing it in other threads.

The ONLY purpose of this topic thread is to establish whether the members of this site feel SC needs an additional patch. If so they are asked to specify whether they feel it needs a correction or new game feature or both.

If they feel SC doesn't need an additional patch they should say so here, which means they think it's fine as it is and should no longer complain about defects they've discovered or discuss improvements they'd like to see in the present game.

Pleas DO NOT put additional game or program suggestions of ANY kind in this Topic Thread as that would destroy the whole idea.

Both.

Unless SC2 is "just around the corner." But it is really a wonderful game!

I would buy SC2 even if there were a patch for SC (assuming SC2 represented another step forward).
