CM on new iBook?

Recommended Posts

Any ideas whether or not CM would run (in all it's glory) well on this computer?

The only thing that worries me is it's 8MB Rage Mobility 128 chip for graphics?

I'm talking about all the special effects working too. Fog, smoke, transparent buildings etc.

Thanks in advance.

I believe it should work just fine. I'm under the impression that the rest of the iBooks from Apple run CM fine. ATI chipsets don't seem to have any problems with CM's effects rendered in RAVE.

With 8Mb of VRAM the only problem I think you'll run into is that using too many high-res mods (usually the terrain-oriented ones) may slow down your display quite a bit.

Friend REVS (member number 5077) runs an iBook – do a search and get an email off to him.

Your graphics card should be okay – my Dell notebook runs an ATI card and works just dandy.

I bought an iBook SE 466 last month

(yeah I figured the new ones would be out at MacWorld NY )

I am very pleased with how it runs/displays CM

the 8mb ATI Rage works well even with lots of mods

I am not sure if 1024x768 available on the new iBooks

will look as good on the 12 inch screen. 800x600 is fine

It should run fine. 1024 x 768 is possible as it has 8mb of vram, sadly they didn't pu in 16 so it wouldn't compete with the Ti Powerbook. The screen is still fairly small so everything will just be small (meaning the type and so on).
