"Typical average rates of uninterrupted operations - includes recording and marking.

By hand, buried -Engineer Troop or 40 x infantrymen can lay:

125 x AT mines per hour in daylight.

75 x AT mines per hour by night.

75 X AT mines plus 225 x anti-personnel mines per hour in daylight.

45 x AT mines plus 135 x anti-personnel mines per hour by night.

600 x anti-personnel mines per hour in daylight.

360 x anti-personnel mines per hour by night.

By hand, unburied - Engineer Troop or 40 x infantrymen can lay three times as many unburied mines as buried mines in the same time."

Sorry to leave you hanging - I just got back from work. The "second best" is a gag from the old series "Get Smart". The leading character would always describe things as the "the second biggest/fastest/longest/whatever I ever saw!"
