Chamberlain, Peter, and Hilary Doyle. Encyclopedia of German Tanks of World War Two. London: Arms & Armour, 1999. ISBN 1-85409-518-8

272 pages, over 1,000 photographs, index, and appendices on production numbers, ammo, radio equipment, armament, etc.

Awesome book and cheap, too: only around $20 USD

German Tanks of world war II by von Senger und Ettelin, is real good, and I ahve found it to be a great help.

Mit donnernden Motoren,

So schnell wie der Blitz,

Dem Deinde entgegen,

Im Panzer geschützt.

Voraus den Kameraden

Im Kampfe ganz allein,

Steh'n wir allein,

So stossen wir tief

In die feindlichen Reihn.

One of the best German general pictoral works on German panzer's IMHO if it is still in print is:

Scheibert Horst, Panzer A Pictoral Documentation. Schiffer Publishing. ISBN: 0-88740-207-0

If you are on a tight budget "Encyclopedia of German Tanks of World War Two" mentioned above is the one to have.

If can spend a bit more I would suggest the books by Spielberger/Doyle/Jentz covering different types of Panzers. Not 100% sure if the one covering the Jagdpanther is available in English though ("Schwere Jagdpanzer" is the German title).

But the Encyclopedia really is the best "one stop" solution in my opinion...

Agree, Doyle/Chamberlain is perfect if you want one reference book. Of course, if you want more detail, nothing beats the Spielberger series with one volume for each tank (I, II, III, ...). Don't know about avaliability in english though (that's somethign that never bothered me <eg>).
