AUGEN ZU! 50 Turns 0200 Hours, 24 December, 2944 German night assault Twenty-five miles west of Bastogne lies the small Belgian town of Rochefort, only fifteen miles from the Meuse River. The Ardennes offensive has roared across the Western Front for a week. After reeling from the initial blows, the American defense is beginning to solidify. The town of Rochefort has become extremely important because its bridge over the River L'Homme gives access to the final approach to the Meuse. Sources: Arnold, James R.
