Pvt. Pete
Sorry to waste everyone's bandwidth on praise that has undoubtedly been said on this board over and over again, but I must add my little bit for my own well being. I played ASL with a friend years ago and together we now have a PBEM going on the demo. This is what I had wished ASL was so long ago! We just wanted to PLAY, and not get mired in an evening of unfortunate details for each and every action that went outside the scope of the Basic Overview chapter. For giving me a game that meets my needs without sugar-coating it to appeal to someone who isn't me, I thank you. For trusting me to learn what I want to learn on my own terms and not preventing me from playing around my ignorances, I thank you. For giving me a demo that I'm already looking beyond all of this season's $55 titles that I foolishly purchased, I thank you. I'm off to buy your game now. Mace
A fresh newbie who's obviously ready for assimilation, and the CMBorg no where to be seen! Time for the CM Borg to review quality control. Mace

Ghengis Jim
heh I noticed the obvious trek nature of these <borG>? hmmmm, whatever happened to those things? And if they were truly enhanced by the exponential power of AI, then the federation surely would not have realistically had a chance. And why didn't anyone develop 300mm rockets in star trek, they would have had the upper hand.
Pvt. Pete
Thanks for the hearty welcome, everyone. I've noticed that, just like our salad days of ASL and cheap beer, my friend is STILL kicking my ass. The problem is not his mastery of the game, sadly. That would be something I could level the field. Rather, the problem is his superior tactics. He seems to flank me every way I turn...his guns outpower mine in every encounter...and his subject lines are always wittier. Damn him and his sausage breath! Anyway, we're having a good time. Guest *Captain Foobar*
Pete, I hate guys like that!!! They seem charmed somehow..... They must be stopped!!
Pvt. Pete
True. I need to somehow waste him if only to make him less cocky. If I see a squad of his running around my flank hundreds of yards away, you can bet it will be those same troops that drop a grenade in my 50cal gunner's lap in the next turn. He cannot be stopped, yet he gets a TINY LOS on an edge of my tank and it'll get KOed. When my full game arrives, perhaps I'll read the manual. Hopefully before he does!
