A while ago there was a thread about making a modern CM, US Civil War etc. Charles (IIRC) said that the engine would have to be completely redesigned before it could be used for anything else than WWII. I believe that nothing beyond CM4 is currently planned due to a lack of interest (Steve and Charles don't have extensive-enough interests in those theaters/wars to design a game on them). This may change in the future. I'm hoping that they remain interested enough to complete up to CM4 before jumping to some other project/game.
