SS Brigadefuhrer Kurt Meyer, known as "Panzermeyer" arrives near Falaise and watches with horror as German troops fled the incessant Allied attacks from the air and on the ground. It's available in paperback at most decent-sized US bookstores. He wrote an autobiography, haven't read it, but Reynolds says it's full of self-serving propaganda and is has historical inaccuracies to boot. It is called Grenadiers. Personally the few battles I double checked from the book jibed with what Reynolds describes in Steel Inferno. This one included. But I am quite sure the good SS Brigadefuhrer polished the apple on his side more than once. I guess we all would.
