Check6
How did "kipanderson" post to the SB thread nearly half an hour after it was locked? Sorry to clutter up the board with a thread like this but obviously I couldn't post it in the SB one...
Minnesota Joe
He was probably writing his message during the lock-up. In other words, he started typing before it was locked and submitted it after. As far as I can see, the only thing that keeps one from posting on a locked topic is that the "Reply" link is disabled. ------------------ Ah scheist. M Hofbauer
Minnesota, no can do - I experienced differently: it happened to me repeatedly that I began a reply while the thread was still open, and when I pressed the submit button it would tell me sorry the thread is closed. David Aitken
You don't know when the thread was locked, only when Steve posted to say he was locking it. David ------------------ There's a splinter in your eye, and it reads REACT
The Commissar
It's a concpiracy. "Kipanderson's" post is a part of an ongoing global-wide conspiracy of a the Rodent Cold War, where the twin super-powers "URS" (United Rodent States) and "USRR" (United Socialist Rodent Republic) are battling for control of free chinchilla nests everywhere. Don't ask how the actual posting of an unrelated subject relates to this secret war, you're on a need to know basis and you don't need to know. Note: The Commissar did not actually post this post. There are no secret wars between small furry rodents. You have not read this post, you have not been on this board. Failure to go along with the above story will result in termination with a "Gerbil Cannon". ------------------ "...Every position, every meter of Soviet soil must be defended to the last drop of blood..." - Segment from Order 227 "Not a step back"
Guest Mirage2k
quote:
You don't know when the thread was locked, only when Steve posted to say he was locking it.

It was posted definitely after Steve locked the thread. I remember when the thread was locked, padlock and all. I also remember coming out of a thread much later and noticing that the padlocked thread was higher than it had been before. -Andrew ------------------ VOTE BLAH FOR PRESIDENT! Guest Mirage2k
Commando Smiley, yikes! Is it too late to throw it back? I was looking more for the general Tellitubby sort of appeal that goes with smilies, though I suppose that smilies, like all creatures, defend themselves with the utmost tenacity and breed special warrior types to defend the hive (like ants). Never corner a smiley... -Andrew ------------------ VOTE BLAH FOR PRESIDENT! Throw me a frickin' smiley, people! Your one-stop-shop for gaming news is www.SiegersPost.com ! Hit it! BLAH IN 2000! Guest Big Time Software
Wow! I am at a total loss as to how this could have happened. When a thread is locked it "can't" be posted to from that second on, even if someone is writing a response. Heck, even I can't modify the thread in any way shape or form (unless I figure out how to work the admin tools to unlock it ). Since this has never happened before, all I can do is chalk it up to a fluke. Steve

Check6
David, something's wrong with the magazine on that dude's gun. It's upside down. (just kidding) [This message has been edited by Check6 (edited 09-02-2000).]

We like to put our magazines in funny places. - The Bren LMG has its magazine on top. - The Sten SMG, and its successor the Sterling, have it on the side. - The modern SA80 AR has it at the back. The SA80 (Enfield L85A1) also has a cunning feature whereby, if used in warm climates, it falls apart. The British Army can be seen as a pioneer of human rights, ensuring that if we go to war, we won't actually hurt anybody. David Aitken
Naw Michael, that's Andreas, and he's German. Unfortunately HM Customs didn't notice the hamsters when they let him in.
