ReIncarnation Bug

Recommended Posts

Ok I have read about this before but never seen it myself. Here's the scoop.

I have an axis squad of 10 gerbil mountain troopers in a heavy building, after the 60 seconds is over arty is still dropping and the 10 man squad turns into a 9 man squad of panic stricken men. I hit go and there they are 9 gerbil troopers, with lumps in their shorts.

Now I watch the movie again. This time watching all the the way thru and then rewinding at the end to anytime before the arty barrage scared my poor little gerbils, and what do you know 10 gerbils again and they arent even panicked anymore.

I can also now give them move orders, where as I couldn't if I hit the go button when they were panicked.

Waaassssuuppp with this?

I saw something similar. I was playing a PBEM in which I was using a wasp. At the end of the turn (clock was at 60 s.) a arty shell hit near my wasp and the crew abandoned. When I replayed the movie, the guys didn't abandon the wasp and I could use it in the next turn. At first I thought I saw it wrong the first time, but my opponent commented next turn on the fact that the wasp was still alive. He also saw it getting abandoned.

Guess there is a little bug there somewhere.

That would ofcourse, be the casino tactic. The moniker heralding from the Battle of Monte Casino where the US troops would reply the German artillery barrages until all their casualities were respawned. smile.gif

Dunno, first I heard of this one. But you can bet I'll be playing my movies a few times now until I get the desired result. "gimme 20 bucks on red 13 and spin the wheel!" smile.gif

I had the same thing happen to me. Right at the end of a turn (sec 59 or 60) I blew up an M8 from behind and when I went to plan my next turn, low an behold it was back alive. I reloaded the previous turn and this time after the movie played, the M8 was still destroyed so I guess it was a small glitch.

Hi Baker350,

I had almost the exact same thing with some soldiers a few weeks back. Two would be killed by arty after the 60 second mark, but if I rewinded it a little and pressed GO, the two men would be back and my squad would be fine. I posted this on the board, and I sent the file to Madmatt. He said he did see something wrong, and would send the file to Charles. I assume they're already looking at the issue, but I'd also be they'd be more than glad if you sent that file to them as well. Nothing like some more evidence to get this issue fixed. Nice heads up!!

Well, to add fuel to the fire, I also saw this recently. A 120MM artillery round landed on the head of my surviving squad member. He died when I let the turn run out normally (i.e. no fast-forwarding and rewinding), but when I fast-forwarded at 10 sec intervals to get to the 'bloop', he was alive. He lasted long enough to occupy a victory location, though he didn't really have an effect on the battle as I had other troops close by and he never fired a shot after he rose from the dead. I guess Dead Men don't Shoot, just as Dead Men don't Talk in paintball. smile.gif

Are there alot of paintball players playing CM? It would seem to be an overlapping market to some respects. I have played in the NPPL for a few years(since 1994), and I hope CM will teach me to read fields a bit better

I am a long-retired player. I started playing in 1984, back when it was lots of sneaking around in the brush with bolt-action Nelspot pistols. I participated in the arms race up to a point (I own the 53rd constant air gun ever made), but when semi-auto fire replaced most of the sneaking part, I gave it up.

Does anyone play "stock gun" games anymore, or with limited paint (20 rounds, max)? I might come back for that. I always loved the look on someone's face when I popped them in the back or the side, and they never knew I was there. That doesn't happen in the semi-auto unlimited paint games, as people just blaze away at every sound.

I just played last weekend, what a blast! I love that game. This was my first time with semis though. I'm used to crappy pump guns that lose the round if you dip your barrel below horizontal. Semis make it a brand new game. Unfortunately, the field I was on was small, and had 14 people to a side, thus it became race to a bunker and keep your head down until everyone was out. Not too exciting. I prefer to be out in the woods stalking!

Okay.. To address two things.\

1) I have seen the same thing happen with a HT of mine surviving a Arty hit nearby when I reloaded my turn and played the movie back.

He abandoned in the original movie.

2) I have been playing paintball since 1990 and I am a vet of the game. I have my own marker a Glenn Palmer Typhoon. I love it and will never ever buy another PB marker again.

Sadly enough I have been too poor as of late to play. Damn mortgage....
