TacOps v4 Multiplayer Teams Mode

Summary of TacOps Multiplayer Teams Mode (MTM) ...

Multiplayer Teams mode allows more than two players to participate in the same battle via the Internet or a LAN. The technical limit on the number of players is 200 (military version). The practical limit for LAN play (military version) is an unknown number greater than 37. At the time of this writing, 37 players on a LAN is the largest session that I have heard of. The Internet is inherently slower than a LAN, so the practical limit for Internet play is 10 to 15 players, depending on the modem speeds of the various participants.

[Note. The public/retail version of TacOps v4 is limited to 20 players.]

The umpire and spectators have perfect situational awareness. The fog-of-war rules do not apply to the umpire or to spectators.

Is it possible to be a spectator for one side only? Also, do all participants have to disable their firewalls to play MTM?

As an observer you get to see all things happening on the map, including both sides troops.

A way around this problem is to join with a neutral color and drive around the battlefield yourself this can be done in a vehicle but a UAV or a chopper would be better.

Regarding the firewall,I use Zonealarm and I have no problems with tacops

A firewall is just a generic term for any kind of network packet filter.

In the most common configuration such a filter will allow outgoing TCP connections unconditionally and hence the people behind it can join a TacOps game on the internet just fine, without any configuration work (such a firewall is useless when your browser or mailer have been compromised).

If you want to host a game, then you have to open TCP port 7023, respectivly if your firewall is also a gateway machine then you have to forward this port to the actual gaming machine.
