Rob2020
Perhaps a dumb question, but where are the CM2 demos located? I don't see any links on the store pages and they don't seem to be in the "Support" or "Patches" areas, nor a couple of other places I looked. Do I need a store account to have access to them?
kohlenklau
no account needed. https://www.battlefront.com/fortress-italy/cmfi-base-game/?tab=demo you gotta go to the base game page and you can click on demo EDIT: they are kinda hard to find, like that one good pen in the kitchen drawer. HONEY!!! WHERE IS THE DAMN PEN THAT HAS INK? Edited September 23, 2023 by kohlenklau
Schrullenhaft
Just to provide the links to the Demo pages for each game with a demo. CM Cold War (CMCW) does NOT have a demo unfortunately, but each of the other games does. The demos are NOT Engine 4, which is available for each game except CMA; so they don't show the latest improvements, though there is not a massive difference with earlier engines. CMSF2 and CMBN do have module content within the Demo. The other games do not have module content (such as CMFI). Browsing for the links you will find them on the Store page for each game's main engine, within the left hand 'Game Info' column: CM Shock Force 2 (v. 2.00, Engine 3): https://www.battlefront.com/shock-force-2/cmsf2-base-game/?tab=demo CM Battle for Normandy (v. 3.11, Engine 3): https://www.battlefront.com/battle-for-normandy/cmbn-base-game/?tab=demo CM Fortress Italy (v. 1.10, Engine 2): https://www.battlefront.com/fortress-italy/cmfi-base-game/?tab=demo CM Red Thunder (v. 1.00, Engine 3) https://www.battlefront.com/red-thunder/cmrt-base-game/?tab=demo CM Black Sea (v. 1.02, Engine 3): https://www.battlefront.com/black-sea/cmbs-base-game/?tab=demo CM Final Blitzkrieg (v. 1.00, Engine 3): https://www.battlefront.com/final-blitzkrieg/cmfb-base-game/?tab=demo CM Afghanistan (v. 1.01, pre-Engine 1): https://www.battlefront.com/soviet-afghan-war/cm-afghanistan/?tab=demo

There are some technical issues with the file which haven´t been dealt with so far.

Well, I gave up after about ten minutes looking, on and off. Was starting to think that they're not really aiming to sell me a game here, but I knew that couldn't be the case. You'd think demos would be front center. 3 hours ago, Schrullenhaft said: CM Cold War (CMCW) does NOT have a demo unfortunately Yup, that's the one I wanted. And the sales blurp even advises to try the demo before buying. Okay, I'll try one of the others - thanks for the links.

You in the USA? What is your zip code? We gotta open up bidding for meeting somebody with a laptop with CM Cold War. Neutral territory like a coffee shop. You buy the pizza and beers. 1 hour of play on the laptop. 1 large pizza and a 6 pack. I do not have CMCW so I am just the facilitator.
Rob2020
I ended up downloading some BS () Demo and tinkered around with the training scenario that has the four Bradley's attacking a town. Everything seemed to work okay, so far. I need to mentally prepare myself for this learning curve, especially since I'm also swamped with familiarizing myself with Win10 and trying to get the old Sims 2 installed and running to feed my house-building addiction.
