Simcoe
This guide is the real deal! performance increase is massive. https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2601713366
PIATpunk
gave this a shot (btw it's display size.txt) but no difference that I could discern. Then again, I have an nvidia card and the game has always behaved better on them, this poster has an AMD card. I do have an Invidia card though.

Codreanu
I remember seeing a thread about this a few months ago and from what I remember nobody/almost nobody saw any performance increase from increasing the resolution, me included. I have an Nvidia card too and VRAM and GPU usage was the same no matter if I had it set to native resolution in the .txt file or increased it up to 8K. Are we sure it's because of that and not because of disabling shaders and shadows? Because both of those definitely do give a sizable FPS increase.
Artkin
I tried the fix myself. I didn't see a huge noticeable improvement in FPS, but I did notice the slightly increased lag when zooming around the map at low altitude. I never used a program to track my FPS though. I think I saw a marginal improvement but I can't be sure.
ThathumanHayden
I just hope that game engine 5 improves optimization for more modern machines. It's understandable that optimization doesn't always keep up if you have a small team, but lag does hamper my enjoyment quite a bit.
