This is news to me, and, I'm sure, isn't making the Kremlin happy, either. Apparently, the Poles ran a classified military exercise in which BLUFOR got clobbered, leading to some drastic force upgrades with maximum urgency early delivery of the 250 tank buy beginning in 2022, simply astounding for introducing not just a major weapon system in any nation, but, in Poland's case, utterly unlike the old Soviet-era tanks they replace.

But not enormously unlike the Leopard 2s they will work alongside, eh?

Not sure if the Abrams deal will scupper the full scale production of this vehicle.....This project has taken a while.

Less than a minute ago I finished reading about the Polish tank fleet, armament and sensor fits, armor upgrades, ammo and ammo performance and more, all because I had some vague recollection the Poles had Leopards, which is how I learned of the Leopard 2 PL. Most of the Polish tank fleet consists of T-72As with minor upgrades. Believe you'll find this article a good read.
