Just recently I killed a Jabo before it even reached the battle area with my first burst from a FlaK... Other times, you just miss a lot. Such is life. Sergei Posted July 11, 2000 Share Posted July 11, 2000 In The Real Life triple-A's main objective isn't to kill the plane, but to make it cautious and force it to make high speed zig-zag strafes so that its attack would be as ineffective as possible. Just making the pilot think he could be dead meat did affect his ability to hit the targets. In WW2 you at least could hit something even with an AAMG, but nowadays the chances are theoretical except against heli's, and they're so heavily armored that you need a LAW to penetrate them. You don't REALLY even see the plane explode as such but you will see the flak burst of your AAA assets as they fire at the area that the plane is in. Also, please remember that just driving a plane away (which is modeled), or having a plane abort it's attack run is what usually happens. YES, it is possible to shoot down planes (I got a Veteran 37mm crew that bagged three in one battle!) but it is hard and rather uncommon, as it should be...
