John Kettler
My favorite retired Army SFC, brother George, sent me these, which I believe will be of considerable interest to many here. Real battle late Feb 45, Elsdorf, Germany. Tank from F 1-33 AR, 3rd AD vs the after the battle pics with brief notes.http://www.precision-panzer.moonfruit.com/communities/9/004/006/621/409/images/4546517944.jpg Another view from the front. The muzzle brake is really belled by the hit.http://media.moddb.com/cache/images/groups/1/3/2074/thumb_620x2000/M26_Pershing_Fireball_destroyed.jpg Different tank here; took a turret side hit. Caption said this was the only total loss.https://www.bing.com/images/search?q=M26+Pershing+Tank+Destroyed+by+Tiger&view=detailv2&id=75D88A45E8E29E402EDC761590578B859D60567B&selectedindex=11&ccid=lrlW8eX3&simid=607988587848732131&thid=OIP.M96b956f1e5f75585d7b7469b9feaccfco0&mode=overlay&first=1 Regards, John Kettler Edited June 19, 2016 by John Kettler
jtsjc1
That was "Fireball". The full story is in Hunnicutt's Pershing book (which has been reprinted). Looking at the pic with the soldiers on the turret, you can see the damaged co-axial mg on the right front fender.
