Vet 0369
The manual states that the MQ-1C Gray Eagle is "invulnerable to AA fire while performing Observer missions, but can be attacked by AAA and SAMs during certain portions of Strike missions." Is the "AA fire" both AAA and SAMs? I find that sentence very confusing. If I have a Gray Eagle observing, can a Tunguska shoot it down if it's not in "strike mode?"
Bennay
i think its referring to AA as MANPADS, SAMs as the Tunguska and to my knowledge their is no AAA other than the Tunguska and i haven't seen it use its guns towards the sky
panzersaurkrautwerfer
AA is just catch all Anti-Aircraft. Grey Eagle flies outside of the engagement window for AAA (guns) and the in-game SAMs while spotting.

I have no experience with the modern stuff. The last time I was involved in aerial recon, it was an RF4-B Phantom.
panzersaurkrautwerfer
I'm pretty sure it could, I think the only real defense the Raven has is how small/non-threatening it is. It's got some tricks, but broadly speaking it's a somewhat nice commercial leve remote control plane with a camera in it.
BlackMoria
I am working my way through the scenario 'Cry Havoc' and I can confirm that the Raven can be shot down by a Tunguska with super annoying regularity.
A Canadian Cat
LOL yeah the Tunguska eats Ravens for breakfast, lunch and dinner. No need to for it to eat crow
