MisterMark
If a unit is given a wide target arc covering roughly 180 degrees in front of it, will it spot better in it's forward area than if it didn't have a target arc at all? I'm guessing if a unit does not have any target arc it has to be searching and spotting in all directions which would tax and degrade it's spotting ability in any one sector. Thoughts? -Mark
Vanir Ausf B
Units have some degree of 360° awareness regardless of facing, but they do spot better in the direction they are looking. A target arc gets everyone's eyes facing the same direction so it will often improve spotting in that way. But there is no additional spotting bonus beyond the eyeball facing, i.e. a unit without a target arc in which everyone is facing the same direction will spot just as well in that direction as a unit with an arc.
MisterMark
Ok I see... what if the target arc is 'shallow'? Does a unit with a shallow target arc spot better in that particular sector than without the arc?

At least not according to the guy who codes it.
Toblakai
I read something different from a BFC developer some time ago (but don’t ask me for the link). How I remember he wrote that with target arc you would have a better chance to spot something in the target area.
Vanir Ausf B
I know what you are referring to. He was mistaken and corrected himself later in the same thread.
