Aryaman
Hi Some times units don´t retreat and instead they remain in the front until they are destroyed. I wonder, is there something the player can do or avoid to make sure units always retreat to avoid destruction?
Bill101
Hi Aryaman The chance of a retreat is based on a die roll, so sometimes they will flee when attacked, but other times they will stand and fight to the bitter end. Bill
Strategiclayabout
And that's what make it a great feature. Sometimes the uncertainty will make a critical situation go your way, sometimes not . Just saw a high level soviet HQ escaping death while I organized everything to get my panzer near it. Could only strike once/reduce it instead of destroying it for good.

Bill And what is the chance percentage? no modifiers to the die roll?
Bill101
Sure, there is a chance of the unit retreating if the 'estimated losses after combat will bring the unit down to a strength value <= 5. The chance is 75% if it is not on a resource of any kind, including fortifications which count as resources for this. The chance is 25% if it is on a resource, unless that resource is a city, capital, fortress, as units don't retreat if they are in cities, capitals or fortresses.
