JoshOmatic
Hi everyone, I just bought a copy of the paradox cmsf game today, I installed it and then tried to run it but it won't open, I tried some methods posted on here but I can't do the DEP solution because I never was requested to license therefore preventing me from having a runservice.exe, and I can't find a license on my box. I'm on windows 7 BTW. Please help if you can.
agusto
Do you get any error mesages? As far as i can tell from your post, the game isnt liscenced. That could be a problem with your anti virus programm denying CMSF to acsess the internet. Try reinstalling and running CMSF with yout anti virus programm deactivated.
JoshOmatic
I didn't get any error messages, And I don't see a license key anywhere on my box. I tried what you said to do and I still get the same results: 1. I run autorun and click install 2. I install it 3. It closes out and nothing else happens. 4. I try to open it 5. I get a disk icon next to my mouse 6. nothing happens.
agusto
Hmmm. Patch the game to the latest version before trying to start it, maybe your having a known techical issue that can be fixed by that. Try to start the game each time after you installed a new patch. If that doesnt work either, i am sure someone from BFC is going to give you technical support soon. They are usually quite fast at this. Patches: http://www.battlefront.com/index.php?option=com_versions&Itemid=317#Combat%20Mission:%20Shock%20Force%20-%20Paradox%20Version EDIT: Did you installe the retail upgrade or did your game come with the retail upgrade? As i can tell from this* thread, the paradox version is asking for a liscense kes after installing the 1.21 patch. *http://www.battlefront.com/community/showthread.php?t=92968 http://www.battlefront.com/index.php?page=shop.product_details&flypage=shop.flypage_bfc&product_id=227&category_id=9&manufacturer_id=0&option=com_virtuemart&Itemid=26&vmcchk=1&Itemid=26
Schrullenhaft
With Windows 7, you may want to launch the game by right-clicking and selecting "Run as administrator" from the popup menu and see if that helps. If your video is an Intel integrated chip, then you will likely have problems running the game. Depending on what Intel integrated video you have, there may be newer video drivers to help run the game. However in our experience this has only worked with the March and May 2013 releases of the Intel HD 4000 Graphics drivers. Other Intel HD Graphics have NOT worked (even with similarly numbered drivers for those particular graphics). The 'Paradox' version of CMSF does NOT have a license key to my knowledge. I believe it utilizes a disc-based copy-protection system. So changes to your DEP settings are unnecessary to my knowledge since that is an issue with the way the eLicense functions, the copy-protection system for the Battlefront distributed version of CMSF. For the Paradox version you have to use Paradox patches, which stopped at version 1.20. So remaining with the Paradox version the latest patch will be 1.20. If you purchase any of the modules, then you can use the Battlefront patches. However if you purchased ONLY the NATO module, then the game needs to be at version 1.21 BEFORE you can install the NATO module. That would require the 'Paradox Retail 1.21 patch', which costs US$1.00 (download only): http://www.battlefront.com/index.php?option=com_virtuemart&page=shop.product_details&flypage=shop.flypage_bfc&Itemid=26&category_id=9&product_id=228 With the 1.21 Paradox retail patch upgrade you convert to eLicense. This is where you may have issues with DEP and security programs. BEFORE applying the 1.21 Retail patch upgrade you will want to install the 1.10 and 1.20 patches. Once you apply the 1.21 patch (and activate the license key), then you can apply the 1.31 and 1.32 patches.
Erwin
I don't know if this is relevant to this situation, but checking ones' antivirus and firewall helped me with similar problems. Eg ZoneAlarm Toolbar is infamous for stopping CM2 running.
