snakee
Hi. If a Tank is using hide with or with out AOF, is there a time delay from going from hide to taking the shot?
poesel
I can't remember that anyone has ever noticed an effect or tested 'hide' with vehicles.

Childress
Hi. If a Tank is using hide with or with out AOF, is there a time delay from going from hide to taking the shot? The attributes of a Hiding vehicle in CM constitute a puzzle inside an enigma. Presumably the crew has cut the engine to eliminate the sound signature. But there's no time penalty for restarting, which for a tank can be a rather convoluted procedure. Also the turret speed should be affected. And it appears that it's not. Serendipitous camouflage?

Ithikial_AU
It's been a very long time but I think 'hiding' vehicles meant cutting engines back in the CMx1 era.
Childress
Short of a dire fuel shortage, I can't think of a situation in which a tank's engine should be cut off in the heat of a typical CM-sized battle. Too many downsides. It's just too dangerous. Therefore I submit that BF should eliminate the Hide option for vehicles.

womble
Ok thank you, lets hope it has no effect with inf. I'm really not sure what you mean, but you'll find that Hide has a pretty damaging effect on an infantry team's ability and willingness to fire. For a start they don't spot targets as well, and for another their priority when given a Hide order is to remain hidden, which means not giving away their position by opening fire. Self preservation will trump this, but that means facing a clear and present danger.
