Action and Location info ?

Recommended Posts

Can we have information again in the panel about where a unit is actually located and what it is doing ? I miss this in the new series and it was there in the old games.

It would be great to see that in the game again !

You mean information like "Passenger" or "2nd Floor" ?

There is a steady drip-drip of begging for that kind of pertinent information :)

If you want to know what terrain it's in, you're out of luck - since CM2 terrain tiles can have multiple "terrain types". You have to use Mk1 eyeball for that sort of info.

What it's doing (per man) can be seen in the green text on the left when a unit is selected. There's even a mod ( look for Vin's Animated Text mod ) to make that more icon-ish rather than text )

In CMx2 you can have a dozen men with each doing something different. In the lower left corner you have a list of individuals and what they're doing (spotting, hiding firing, etc). If you pass the cursor over the weapons in the weapons list you can see who in the list has what (3rd soldier is firing the Walther P38). If you look at the units the base will flash as you pass your curser over the weapons type so you can see which soldier is which, how he's armed and what he's doing.

There is also the problem that a squad can occupy more than one AS, and thus more than just one mix of terrains.

And the problem that "Brush" (and other such cover/concealment type) objects in any of those (up to 3) AS will only apply to some of the truppen in the AS where they're present, and then only from certain directions and elevations.
