  1. I have sympathy for the US people. The politics of Isolationism is knocking every year louder. I really can't blame them. European members of NATO should have policies so that they can be responsible for their own security. To beat Russia that is for Russians to embrace true democracy, right now dictators still rely on their misguided sense of patriotism. Settlement could be freedom of navigation on the Black Sea it is not a Russian Lake like the North Sea is not a British Lake or Sea.

I would enjoy reading an essay as to why the USA can't win this war on behalf of Ukraine and the world within 4 weeks. I have my thoughts why and why not.

Mmmm Iraq, Afghanistan and we shut up about Vietnam, the most powerful army in the world runs short of decisive victories. Storming Norman was the last successful general against Russian Supplied arms. Once the US taxpayers thinks it is too expensive they vote in a Commander in Chief who will withdraw just to be elected.

  3. 200 years since the Red Coats and Green Jackets. Red Coats have been replaced by the Machine Gun and the Green Jackets evolved in the modern rifleman (Cover, Concealment Fire Positions.) Yes, UGVs in the form of ground drones is feasible too. Size of a domestic cat with better eyesight and easier to train doing the scouting.

Just saw Steve's post above. I think we are on the same page.

Typical example is the start button of motorcycles. The Brits invented it and sold the patent to the Japanese as British bikers were traditionalists and preferred kick starters. Like they say it is now history, I loved my Yamaha with the electric starter granted Triumphs were nice bikes too.

I don't disagree with that. But I am happy I asked the question. There is nothing wrong with thought experiments.

Once the first shot is fired diplomacy is over. To disguise it is pointless, because it will be a defeat. Prigozhin is an example what happens when you negotiate with putin. I am afraid it will be over when the Russian flag will be lowered at the Kremlin.

US back bone, courage, and a week of B-52s.

Like B29's over Korea doing MacArthur's bidding. The man was sacked for very good reasons. The B52's will trigger WW 3 Imo. B52s were yesterday's tools. You don't negotiate with the likes of putin the last person who did this was Prigozhin. Arm the Ukraine is diplomacy at present you just don't agree with it. UN resolutions which Russia has Vetoed was diplomacy and you don't advocate diplomacy but appeasement.

That's why I am bringing up diplomacy.

Diplomacy is the prerogative of the Ukraine. If necessary, they will resort to an IRA or even a fundamentalist type of operation. Locals always have the last word. To discuss diplomacy on this forum is a waste of time. Select which side you are on. 19th century style of imperialism is not European diplomacy nowadays. Up to the US population who they support I don't vote there.
