Howler, may I ask what mods you are using?   Your screen looks so very much better than mine.  I just started same scenario, didn't realize I had never played that one.

Aris Terrain Texture Compilation and his vehicle mods for the most part. What you might be seeing is my use of ReShade. I use it to provide AA and sharpness. In game both AA and  VSync are off. The video (Radeon) driver has AA turned off also. Unless taking a screencap, the 3D Model is set to 'Balanced'. The in game shaders are ON. I lose the hit decals if I turn this off. Otherwise, it too would be OFF.

You'll find more info for ReShade from Mord's post below.

  2. While there are discrepancies in a few standalone scenarios, you guys (designers) did a great job handling the update overall. I treat such inaccuracies as either bad intel or to reinforcements being delayed in some unexpected manner. As a veteran of CMSF,  I appreciate the improvement of the AI play over the original and don't get too worked up over the odd SNAFU.

I haven't encountered any game breakers yet. Not having played Semper Fi, as I'm still nine engagements (completing) into Task Force Thunder, I do understand the concern the OP may have especially if he's never experienced CMSF (to serve as a sanity check).

Anyway, my basic question remains - why does it take longer to set up a SG43 than a M2HB?  The SG43 is on wheels and pretty much already deployed.  The M2HB is much heavier (128 lbs w/ tripod vs 90 lbs on wheels) and in two pieces that need to be put together.  Just seems weird to me...

    M2HB   BN   23   21

    M2HB   FI     23   21

    M2HB  FB    11  21

I'm curious about the deployment being twice as fast for the late war (FB) use of the weapon. I don't have FB so I can't comment further on configuration. It almost seems that the times are much faster across the board post BN/FI/CF releases.

  4. As mentioned,  the artillery, air, and drone tabs are in need of 'modernization'. It's a known issue affecting all CMx2 titles. The largest number is the total number of rounds which may be further broken down by sub-total per special ordnance such as smoke (eg WP) or 'smart bombs' (eg Excalibur) depending on the circumstance.

There's only so much that can be crammed into the GUI and BFC is leery of mangling things further by providing a truly variable delay mechanism or otherwise complicating either mission calling or loadout.

What we now have works once one becomes accustomed to the sequential checkoff and the various colored circles, triangles, squares, etc. assailing the player...

  5. Vehicles GFX have evolved since CMSF1 so, you may not be happy with the results of importing them. Same for uniforms.

Any CMx2 terrain, UI, SFX will work in CMSF2. I'm using icons, parts of the UI panel, sounds, explosions, tracers, etc.. sourced from other mods for CMx2 titles. Most are interchangeable and may be used in any CMx2 title.

A lot of folks are using Kieme's terrain and buildings along with Ian's tactical icons from CMSF1  to great satisfaction.

You won't damage your game install by trying a mod, not being happy with it, and then removing it. As long as it's no longer in either your global or specific 'Z' folders - the default un-modded GFX provided by the title will return.

I'm sure a lot the above you were aware of already but post in case it's of interest to others.

  6. I trust the TacAI for most things... BUT I use the 'M' key (Armour Target Arc) for AT assets as the modern titles are too lethal for it to be left to chance.

I kind of surprised a few seem to forgo it's use. When I want me AT teams to use their Javelins against structures or other targets such as ATGMs - then I cancel the arc. I'm not sure the cases used by some point to a specific deficiency at least in regards to the modern titles.

  7. The good news is the trade deadline is Monday 3:00pm eastern and we've thankfully run out of Senator players to trade to the Blue Jackets. Stone also seems to be still on the team... crossing fingers he'll sign as opposed to be given away for a bag of pucks.

While most teams tank to secure the first overall pick in the draft - my Sens do this when they DON'T!

    Is Melnyk gone yet?

Anyway I can try. The logic comes from geopolitics: without the military power projection and global inluence from it the US, current world leader, misses the 'options on the table' to give their words more 'stronk' meaning. Without military power to back you up, how is the US going to defend it economic interests / status quo?

Yes, money being to most efficient way to project said power. It allowed the US to become the preeminent military and economic power it is today. Too many seem to think that another global conflict will simply be averted by posting trolling nationalistic nonsense on facebook.

With a long history of peaceful changeover of power domestically through representative democracy and the institutionalized respect for the rule of law, the rest of the world had one less autocracy to contend.

Unfortunately, the first salvo in the current conflict is cyber and the western democracies are slow to mitigate efforts from certain foreign state actors to undermine the underlining institutions (free press/judiciary/wealth distribution/etc.). It's taking them time to realize that building another tank or plane isn't going to work.

It was never as simple as building a wall or retreating from the global community. We have two millennia of tribalism to prove this doesn't work. One needs to wonder what has transpired in the last 70+ years that has caused large global conflicts to be avoided. I don't know, maybe we are all better off growing our militaries,  projecting geopolitical power in isolation and treating all interaction as zero sum. I'm sure we're better served with fewer diplomats and international organizations.

Western democracies have been slow to recognize the weaponization of refugees, the undermining of institutions, and the inequality of wealth distribution.

We don't need another weapon system - we need to stop the balkinization of telecommunications and encourage more transparency in government. We need to recognize that economic sanctions alone isn't going to be enough. The big boys need to arrive at a understanding as to what constitutes allowable cyber warfare/espionage in polite society. Until then - enjoy the continued constant information and influence attacks on western democracies.

    Does it have been logged?

Not logged by me and I no longer have a savegame. This could very well be a know issue already reported as no one, other than yourself, has posted.

I would expect 7.62 for the M110 and .50cal when armed with the M107. From my observation, the load outs for the snipers always mix 7.62/.50cal ammo among the (split) teams regardless of weapon.

Perhaps what the question is getting at is... since one rarely if ever replays a campaign due to the enormous time commitment, one wants to play the very best version (once).

The answer quite clearly provided right above your post is that both US campaigns are final and the NATO/UK ones are still forthcoming. What more do you want?
