  1. Just playing CMBS demo pleae try: http://www.barbaricco.com/upload/CMRT_FXShine_02a_shader_download/CMBS/Then must show
  2. @RockinHarry Yeah, just playing with settings for CMBS demo and it certainly needs different settings. Especialy houses are different beasts. Can You please try this version for CMBS + sky/ haze gradients + Aris HD Sky: http://www.barbaricco.com/upload/CMRT_FXShine_02a_shader_download/CMBS/
  3. @RockinHarry yes terrain doesn't have normal maps so don't affected by bump map shaders. Do you have enabled options shaders on? Also shadows seems like off.
  4. @CarlWAW Thank You for involvement. If FXShine settings are "commercial ones" Your settings is definitely what "War Movie" mode supposed to be.
  5. I also tried those new bump mapped shaders in CMFI demo and they have no effects? What they do is bringing down burned lights and too dark shadows on vehicles and units. More comparision on: http://www.barbaricco.com/upload/CMRTAnalysis/ Few more screenshoots: CMRT Default FXShine 02 (edited blur + bump mapped shaders + some Aris mods) more...
  6. ".vert Vertex Shader is a shader program to modify the geometry of the scene. It is executed for each vertex in the scene, and outputs are the coordinates of the projection, color, textures and other data passed to the fragment shader. .frag Fragment Shader is a shader program to modify image properties in the render window. It is executed for each pixel and the output is the color info of the pixel. " Advanced stuff but if We somehow translate CM playing hours into learning shaders only sky is the limit:) Yes. Search "RezExplode". Comments are original. Sometimes it's just trial and errors. I only commented Red Thunder default "BrightnessSaturationContrast" . Bump mapped shaders are activated when You have "shaders ON". ML (Alt-M) blur shader is activated on top of the everything. I can't have controls over that.
  7. Here it is FXShine blur + bumpmapping shaders 02a download link: http://www.barbaricco.com/upload/CMRT_FXShine_02a_shader_download/ - this version also affect default mode - if You have problems just delete those files from "z" folder Please post Your results (ATI/ Nvidia/ Intel / graphic card memory - shaders ON/OFF and screenshoots). @RockinHarry, @CarlWAW here is little analysis what's going on: http://www.barbaricco.com/upload/CMRTAnalysis/ antialiasing affects my performance too much but it seems in Opt-M mode that is worse because off contrast. Also performances are much more influenced by screen resolutions and number of vehicles/ infantry/ trees on map than on the shaders settings. My graphic card (ATI 6750m 512Mb) can't handle large resolutions and shaders well (no depth on far terrain with shaders on?). For editing bumpmap settings to make it simple it's just "shadowValue0 /=" in 4 places. (screenshoots are resampled to 1200px and saved as jpg for upload reasons). FXShine blur + bumpmapping shaders ALL BEST AND ON FXShine blur + bumpmapping shaders ALL BEST AND ON CarlWAW blur settings + bumpmapping shaders ALL BEST AND ON Now to some tactics analysis. Let's rock!
  8. Hi This tweak mod was originaly for CMRT but members reporting that it's work perfectly with CMBT (latest update) so please give it a try! - this is modified Battlefront “War Movie” shader - this will replace the opt-M (alt-M) mode - put the unzipped folder in "z" folder - works also with CMRT, CMBI and CMBS (latest updates) - little or no performance hit - OS X and Windows - experimental stuff - please don't edit shader if You don't know what You are doing! Combat Mission FXShine mod download: https://www.dropbox.com/sh/49hc7e5cn0lve4d/AADjTuXSsx6l35wtx_4g3mnda?dl=0 Please check original Thread at Red Thunder section for more: http://community.battlefront.com/topic/120795-fxshine-shader/ As I don't have CMBN Screenshots are from CMRT unedited but post Your Best Normandy screenshoots so we can replace them!
  9. Needs more testing before I crash other people computers.
  10. That's it! incredible how best things in life are really simple. Please post the screenshots and shader
  11. @CarlWAW I was not into Your settings but presented like in the last post it's definitely look like beautiful CarlWAW War Memoirs. Name folder like that zip it and upload:)
  12. Few updates What brings to life terrain and flora is overlay setting in "War Movie" shader but it affects vehicles and uniforms to become too dark, or garish. So regarding all of the suggestions and obvious shortcomings of this edited "War Movie" shader I tried to take it further. This involves editing of bump mapped shaders, but also in consequence means that normal CM look will also be affected and out of balance. With editing only "War Movie" shader You affect only the "alt-M" special mode so you can easily switch back to defaults. Now it's impossible — unless You move shaders from "z" folder. - Dark shadow/garish areas in vehicles and uniforms are more pleasing. - edited haze/sky gradients and clouds textures so they are not "burned". - messing with shadows has performance impact. - still didn't managed to tweak the fog. Important is that Combat Mission still manage to retain a distinctive look. All of this was already "under the hood". I just tweaked the settings. - It would be great if community up vote this, to came on priority list for next update (if it's possible; engine v4.0?) so players can enable/disable, something like "advanced shaders" option. - to leave Battlefront to finalize this job. They know best what's more in the pipeline and how to make this official without breaking anything (at least for PC/Mac's with decent graphic card). - Of course we can continue to play with the settings (please upload those screenshoots!) so they can make better decisions and see what works, what doesn't in different conditions. - and finally I must resume social and work life back to normal What I also achieved while messing with shaders is to hard crash iMac. Need to check everything carefully before uploading this mode so it not became Combat Mission - A Shader Too Far Cheers! It's not bloody war, it's postcard (Who can now say that Combat Mission has outdated graphic!) Garish is gone, sky is back - Let's smash! (daily scenarios can take even more "shine" — after all its metal on the shiny day) Don't look at me, I'm ugly in the morning (@CarlWAW will be pleased I hope so) peaceful trenches of Eastern Front (night and early morning scenarios probably needs "lighter" settings for playability reasons) smoke is in the air, action is coming (fog still not there) To the glory or… (grass is not affected by shadows — probably too much even for the fastest computers)
  13. Check this: http://community.battlefront.com/topic/113712-where-to-put-mod-files/
  14. @Bil Hardenberger on original RT thread "I checked this out in CMBN and it works great" Thanks!
  15. Waiting for more! Gates are open . Btw on Mac If not TextEdit than best is to install Xcode For those subtle changes will definitely try to bring magenta down (green channel - "float AvgLumG") and " fxaa_color = BrightnessSaturationContrast" little bit up. Maybe try to play with "sepia tones" - I did't like it but it can work in some combinations. For CMFI funs I opened thread at: http://community.battlefront.com/topic/120800-fxshine-shader-for-cmfi/ Please take a look!
  16. Dramatic scenes! Now just to somehow merge normal sky with new shader. Will definitly try to edit sky gradient and clouds to better fit this look.
  17. Hi CMFI fans This tweak was originaly for CMRT but could not resisted to try it in CMFI. Still don't own CMFI but it works in demo! - this is modified Battlefront “War Movie” shader CMFI tweaked version - this will replace the opt-M (alt-M) mode - put the unzipped folder in "z" folder - works also with CMRT, CMBN and CMBS - little or no performance hit - OS X and Windows - screenshots are from demo version unedited. - experimental stuff - please don't edit shader if You don't know what You are doing! Combat Mission FXShine mod CMFI tweak link: https://www.dropbox.com/sh/yqic9aamxuqfbzi/AADTj7R-HbHXHgWWS8wuCdSYa?dl=0 Please check original Thread at Red Thunder section: http://community.battlefront.com/topic/120795-fxshine-shader/ Please enjoy and post Your best sunshine Italy screenshoots!
  18. @kevinkin Thanks Screenshots are from few different battles -from Radzymin to Baranovichi if I’m remembering names. It works with rain and night battles are over the top. Only for hard core fans I’m also not advanced graphic programmer (what writing shaders means) but learned to tweak and adopt it to my games. This opens up possibilities that different time of the day and different weather conditions can have different shaders/ or shader settings. (not war-game but best that I played on Mac is Grid 2; beautiful mornings, afternoons and night races) This will probably involve different textures and different shaders for morning, afternoon, night and this is probably out of scope job for Battlefront but community can help. Only they must gave us directions. @George MC Thanks Of course this does not magicaly works for all scenarios. Some areas a too “garish” especially the sky, some are too dark. This would involve new textures for this kind of shader or some other “under the hood” changes. @Baneman Please report is it working on Windows and some screenshot if it is. I think Windows have different gamma settings than Mac so that can also result in differences. @CarlWAW Thanks. This will open Pandora Box but as I can see @Bil Hardenberger is already doing this. You can’t stop the progress:) You will see that CM developers already played with various settings, just keep in mind that this shader work on every pixel 60 FPS so any messing will crash software. But “BrightnesSaturationContrast” is understandable to everyone:) But first better to hear from Battlefront developers what they think about this. To my opinion this “little tweeks” makes Combat Mission (in some scenarios) already as good as anything outthere and it opens up lot’s of the marketing potential especially for newcomers. We must understand that this is their “baby” and they spent years with their game. As are developer I can tell You that it’s sometimes really hard to change the shade of green of the leaf (until good friend tells You and You are angry on him) - not to talk something dramatic like this. @Bil Hardenberger Thanks. Please post results @ShaneGreer Thanks. From iPhone so excuse me for errors
  19. Hi All To make a long story short, father in his middle 40-ties decided it's time to check are there any modern time "Close Combat" game for him and here we are. Finally:) But on the road to Combat Mission it was obvious that some games are more "eye candy". First decision was to make textures mod. But omg there are "billion" already top notch textures and community already provided great stuff here. Then I discovered "War Movie" mode. Why devs didn't made it default? But than again colors in movie mode are somehow too washed and not for everybody eyes. But Battlefront made right direction (they just weren't enough radical with movie shader settings) Textures are great we just need some fancy shader FX stuff. Being developed few iOS games myself I totally understand enormous amount of work small team like Battlefront can have with its own engine and all the assets. As there is no SweetFX or Reshade for Mac OS X only solution was to try dig in into shaders and here we go: - this is modified Battlefront “War Movie” shader - this will replace the opt-M (alt-M) mode - put the unzipped folder in "z" folder - should work also with CMFI and CMBS - don't know is this is allowed. Would be great if someone from Battlefront check it. Even greater if this is somehow putted in future official releases - tested on iMac OS X Yosemite with ATI 6750m - little or no performance hit - OS X only (someone can check it on Windows too - not sure will it work) - screenshots are unedited. Only used some community mods (aris mostly) - experimental stuff - please don't edit shader if You don't know what You are doing! Combat Mission FXShine mod link: https://www.dropbox.com/sh/49hc7e5cn0lve4d/AADjTuXSsx6l35wtx_4g3mnda?dl=0 Oops - long story! Please enjoy and post Your best screenshoots!
