  1. The link is the same, the picture is different. It's a cache issue, Ctrl+R should help. The whole sub-site is probably still WIP. Yeah, it is odd. T-15s and Boomerangs are late to the party, that's the most likely reason. I suspect Boomerang might eventually have something on the sides too.
  2. It is now! http://mil.ru/files/files/parad2015/1-moscow.html For non-Russians, press second link from the right (at the bottom, labeled "ПОРЯДОК ДВИЖЕНИЯ ТЕХНИКИ") and scroll to the right.
  3. These are probably the same tracks. Gotta be things that help not to damage asphalt. And those are not bow machineguns, those are the new APS. Just like on T-15 IFV.
  4. Yeah, there's a bunch of them. What interesting about these is that they are originally from mil.ru site. The official MoD site. More Boomerang, which is double nice. It looks like Boomerang can also be fit with modular add-on armor, if needed.
  5. Speaking of Centauro. Russia did get some for evaluation. And Freccia too. Photo from Rostov, June 2014: http://www.armyrecognition.com/august_2012_new_army_military_defence_industry_uk/russia_will_test_the_italian_wheeled_armoured_vehicle_centauro_with_105_and_120_gun_2808121.html http://tass.ru/en/archive/688765
  6. You can (kinda) do that by combining "TARGET ARC" commands with usual movement commands.
  7. No, John. Designation exists, tank in actual service - does not. UVZ has a few SMs, but that's it. As for the Shtora, yeah, from what I've read, it can do both modes. Speaking of smoke. Rogozin showed a new smoke hand grenade that works similarly: https://youtu.be/GFKhQFTQ-xc First ones are stun grenades, then comes thermobaric grenade, then smoke.
  8. "They" would have to be given T-90AM before they can upgrade its gun to 2A82
  9. Exactly. At the same time, going through all the material, new gen vehicles still look simple, rugged and, well, Russian. Maybe even cleaner and simpler than earlier designs.
  10. No John, T-90SM is not a homeland T-90 model. There are T-90S for export, and T-90A for Mother Russia. Modernized versions of them add "M" to that name. It's that simple. Not sure what a MIL is. Shtora smoke grenades are different from the usual ones. I have not seen a single video from RL that shows how tank employs smoke screen (except for the one generated with engine). What I have seen is how BMP-3M equipped with Shtora employs smokescreen: http://www.kurganmash.ru/public/createmovie.php?titlebrouser=Shtora-1+Protection+system+against+high-precision+weapons&title=Smoke+screen+setting&uri=machines/bmp3u/protection/shtora&file=shtora_zavesa.html
  11. John Kettler I have no idea about those masts. As for LWS receivers/sensors, it'd be easier if I'll show it to you myself. T-90A has Shtora-1 with IR dazzlers. T-90SM does not have IR dazzlers, just LWS recievers. Both can automatically pop smoke when being lased. 12. Total BS. There's been quite a few articles trashing Armata recently, and this one is based on one of them. Original article said that it's being crewed by conscripts and has a gas turbine engine (a la T-80), which is an obvious lie.
  13. Yeah, there's no T-90AM in service. Sometimes I'm using that designation due to being used to it in CMBS. AM is just a home designation, while SM is an export designation. Dunno about optics, haven't seen such data. LWR detectors are small circular looking. You can see two on each side of the gun on this photo, and perpendicularly placed two on each side of the turret can be seen on this one. That's 6 sensors in total. This picture from the above should give better idea of the rear coverage. Same setup can be seen on T-72B3 TUSK. The latter is kinda sucky. Just as sucky as the whole B3 upgrade is. Holes in ERA coverage is the main concern. Beside the one about flying turret decease that hasn't been cured on it. ps: there are no capital letters "o" in my written nickname. Those are zeroes. Had to use them long time ago cuz some guy already registered the same nickname. Stuck with zeroes since then most of the time. No need to use capital "o" when writing my nickname.
  14. The thing on the front hull is obviously some kind of observation device, probably for the driver. And then there's a camera at the back. There's a lot similarities with T-72B3 urban and T-90SM so far:
  15. If Google serves me right, T-72B3 Urban kit uses Relikt ERA. In the mean time, Khlopotov has a pic without watermarks: http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-u3qkno4vmac/VSetBAw1uGI/AAAAAAAAK-U/MZcP4DWSDaY/s2531/%D0%B7%D0%B0%D0%B4%D0%BD%D0%B8%D1%86%D0%B0.jpg
  16. It appears that all new gen vehicles have LED headlights. Noticed that thing under the barrel too. Masts don't have LWR, they are the usual wind sensor and antenna, probably with cameras like on T-90AM. Slat armor is consistent with T-72 Rogatka, T-90AM and T-72B3 urban combat edition (also note similar, if not exactly the same, side ERA): ps: don't care much about the new SPH. want more Boomerang instead.
  17. Military Photos forum rocks the world as always:
  18. It does. I'm sure he just meant that Abrams is so big that you can squeeze in one additional grunt (or even two or three?) to let him sleep in safety, and not outdoors  And if you have two Abrams tanks, you can even make an ad hoc hotel
  19. OK, that sounds reasonable. Even so, it'd take time for evac crew to arrive, and then travel back to safety. And such time would increase depending how hot is it on the battlefield, and what type of operation is going on (offensive or defensive). Under no circumstances 30mm can be considered a bad thing to have here IMO. Uhm. Here's what I know. Driver's MOS is actually called "mechanic-driver", and he's the guy who's responsible for maintenance and field repairs of the chassis. And evac/maintenance/repairs units are based on both BN and BDE level (more on latter). But, like I've said, it would be much better if someone with the actual experience or just more knowledge told us. I see. That's a good point to make. I guess the same can be done with either type of vehicle and crew amount of 3+. It's just the percentage (or number) of the crew that gets to sleep is different.
  20. I understand that the chances are better when talking about side/angled penetrations, that's quite obvious. But were there any frontal attack casualties? You've said yourself that you had to run mission 22 hours straight. Sometimes you can't just pull stuff off the front line. In this case, having 30mm is better than having just 7.62/12.7. This is where I'd say that I have pretty much no idea about how this is done in Russian Armed Forces. I've heard some bits and pieces of info about it here and there, but not enough to say how different is it in Russia in this regard. Maybe some other folks who know can shed some light? This borders with my previous answer in regards of my knowledge, but I'd make a guess that Russian minimal unbreakable armor formation is platoon of 3 tanks, and when not in combat, they can rotate shifts with 2 tanks always being up, while crew of 3rd can either sleep or do repairs/maintenance. Even if one tank will completely fail, platoon would still be operational with two tanks. That's how I would've done it, at least.
  21. For detailed info regarding licensing, you can download game manual and read what it says in detail: http://community.battlefront.com/topic/117390-black-sea-manual-get-it-here-while-its-hot/ Page 18+ Speaking of DRM. I can guarantee you that the only successful DRM out there is project's low popularity.
  22. Only if somebody wants the module to come out before Jun-Aug 2017. But why can't modules come out after that time? Release history of CMSF: Shock Force - July 27th, 2007 Marines - September 26th, 2008 British Forces - July 29th, 2009 NATO - October 21st, 2010 More than 3 years in between.
