  1. My personal guess is that roof tiles are Reactive Armor. Smaller blocks look like it the most. Pictures from different angles suggest that the thickness is comparable. Also note that there's been an official statement that said T-14's systems have backups, and that there's even manual gun control. And that vehicle is still operable under power loss. Being a Moscow kid :
  2. Interesting to compare this to Sprut-SD: https://youtu.be/bSv3B67Ytlk?t=17m16s Looking at slo-mo, initial recoil is dampened by the moving gun, which helps to make it steady while round leaves the tube. After that, recoil goes to the chassis.
  3. Nope. They said that it "looks similar", but it's not like "it's based" on DualShock. The resemblance may very well be actually small (Challenger 2?).
  4. Interesting read you two. I very much relate to all that, with recent events. A lot of people do not understand that the events on the ground are whole lot more seriously complicated than black and white as outsiders/interested parties try to picture them. Getting that message across is even more complicated.
  5. Boomerang from the top 2366x4088px: https://img-fotki.yandex.ru/get/6833/8955119.a/0_9c669_1be5a46b_orig.jpg Left side 19461x9944px: https://img-fotki.yandex.ru/get/9492/8955119.a/0_9c66a_c1570254_orig Even more attachment points than on the right side. Also, as a part of the contract I've talked about previously (for "few hundred" BMP-3s), MoD buys BMD-4Ms and BTR-MDMs, 250+ vehicles, during the next 3 years.
  6. Please, let me try! AK-12 looks like it has no commonality with the rifle they've been using for the past 45 years, has no rail attachment systems and all copies are supposed to be equipped with smart iThermal sights, silencers, lasers, and 100 round mags, all bolted to the rifle itself, right? Would anyone even care to support their claims with anything resembling arguments, facts and/or logic? Such baseless bashing is not even funny anymore.

  8. Just as I said, MoD signed a contract to buy "few hundred" BMP-3s. Bakov comments that his concern can keep manufacturing them until Kurganets-25 will be ready for mass production (they are the same manufacturer). May 9th photos from Vitaly Kuzmin. Note how T-14's panoramic sight can rotate independently from MG. http://vitalykuzmin.net/?q=node/604
  9. Albert Bakov (Kurganets manuf concern VP) also claims (as I expected) that Kurganets IFV's commander can fully control weapons if needed (so does Boomerang and T-15, I guess).
  10. If you mean Boomerang, then I'd say that it looks the least finished so far (and they've made only 4 of them so far, no smoke launchers and LWS sensors installed yet, getting behind other vehicles), and something is suppose to attach to the sides, as shown on these photos (look at attachment rings). Best guess? Something to cover the chassis. Anything more serious? Doubt it.
  11. Kinda, yeah. Got some things wrong too. BMP-2 and MT-LB reference is wrong. Also seriously doubt regarding gunner's hatch beneath the turret. Interesting thought about APS. I get that impression about 4 front turning (steering) wheels again. On this particular photo. Looks kinda badass too. Rigid. Spartan. Not British kind of Spartan , but ancient Greece kind of Spartan. Oh, and since this bad boy didn't get much airtime today, he can have his own little parade.
  12. WW2 ended in September Everyone else celebrates Victory in Europe Day on 8th.
  13. 160AP/340HEI, 2000 7.62mm. Typhoon-K? Mass production have already started, with 30 vehicles already in service. BTW, there's 3x3 version with RWS as well: http://twower.livejournal.com/1550227.html http://bmpd.livejournal.com/792555.html ps: oh, I'm still sleeping. Passenger amount? No idea. Turret's presence inside should be minimal. I'd speculate either 6+3 or 8+3.
  14. Watched it live via stream. Kinda cute. Poor Boomerangs didn't get much video coverage. Flyboys took all their, ehm, airtime Kurganets-25s looked gorgeous.
  15. The Court thread! Every forum needs those! Even tho Pablius brought up a a different case than the one I was angry about, I award him with another nipple sneak peek. In other news, VP of the concern that manufactures Kurganets claims (in his interview with TASS) that their vehicle uses ceramic plates for passive armoring and is protected from top attacks.
  16. Oh, there is. You've summarized "my position" in a way that sounded really stupid. When it wasn't my position in the first place. That's offensive, especially when you can't back it up with my actual words about my position. Wanna keep being a liar? No problemo. Don't discuss it further. NERA: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Reactive_armour#Non-explosive_and_non-energetic_reactive_armour I remember reading something about Russians working on those, but can't really remember anything right now.
  17. T-15 had some problems too. 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 Some details of Boomerang's chassis.
  18. Two notes regarding T-14's outer shell and ERA. Shell doesn't have to be something you attach armor/ERA tiles to. The gun itself is covered by some other layer, which can be seen on some shots, including the one AKD recently posted, with left side projection. ERA? Doesn't have to contain explosive material at all.
  19. OMG, of course, when I said that you've "quoted something I've never said", it was a figure of speech. Of course I meant that you were paraphrasing. It just doesn't sound good "you paraphrased something I've never said", people don't say that, or at least I haven't seen them to. You're missing the point. And the point is, I've never said anything close to what you've paraphrased of me saying. Never intended anything like that. THE ONLY time I used a wrong word (about specific IFV features), I corrected myself. Everything else, I've never expressed any "certainty". Yet you somehow came up with that "paraphrase" that contains stuff that I've never said or intended to say. And when I asked you to quote where I said something like this, you did not, and neither did the other guy.
  20. LOL. Even after my objections, neither of you have provided a single quote of what I've allegedly said. VERY productive conversation indeed. Whatever.
