I am interested. They look very cool. They remind me of the current news reporting. The sooner you release them the sooner my Stryker Company can smoke 'em.

Thanks Mord, I got it! Now for a follow up question. In you description at the repository you recommend combining your civil war mod with your mixed combatants mod.
I found Mord's combatant's mod dated 16 Nov. 2009.
Is this the mixed combatant mod you recommended?
I was already using your radio chatter mod. I sometimes switch the radio chatter mod with Mords Total Chaos US w/ radio chatter mod and crank the volume (until the wife intervenes). Thanks for your time and effort on this stuff. You do good work.

I found the following at the Combat Mission wiki site. I don't know how accurate it is.
Here are the setup strength levels of the three kinds of minefields, in the two kinds of mine. All amounts are approximations based on in-game testing:
AP AT
antipersonnel 14 0
antitank 0 2-3
mixed 10 1-2

Jock - Are you using a mod for the free Syrian fighters? If so which one. They look very cool.

Just the one pass clears a path. I used breach engineers to find where the mines were located and blow up wire barricade began before unleashing a Crab up a mined road which blows up everything leaving the green crossed minefield indicators. (in this JonS reworked scenario> http://cmmods.greenasjade.net/mods/5385/details )
Thanks Wicky. I think I will give this scenario a try after I get the vehicle pack.

The only time my crab has missed a mine is when its going over a mixed minefield and it misses an antipersonnel mine. But then again maybe I've just been lucky. At least its easily spotted, the mine marker doesn't switch to green.
If I understand the minefield signs correctly they are as follows:
Active non-marked minefields: Red sign
Marked minefield: Off-white sign.
A known neutralized minefield (all mines detonated): Green sign.
So it sounds like the SOP might be to run the crab through the desired breach lane until the minefield sign turned green or enemy activity caused you modify the plan. I guess the next question might be how often, on average, the crab would have to go through the breach lane to get the green sign? I would think just once or twice. (I don't have the new vehicle pack yet)

From CMSF Marines Scenario Day at the Beach. USMC advances on the objective with the assistance of close air support. (I did not intend for the close air support to be so close. The BTR 60 was already knocked out.) However it is interesting to see the difference in close air support between the WWII titles and CMSF.

*Cough* Fulda Gap *cough*
YES!! Great idea! Also if CMFG was ever done moders might be able to use it to recreate other cold war conflicts around the same time frame.

I have CMSF base game upgraded all the way to V1.32. I am interested in adding the Marine module and possibly the NATO module.
How does this work reference the patches. Can I just buy and add the modules to the V1.32 base game? Or will I have to re-download all the patches in a certain order and re-install the patches as I also install the modules? Thanks.

Hello Chris,
Can we see a Black Sea show at this weekend twitch live stream? :-)
I second this. Some Black Sea game play would be cool.

Great battle narration and an interesting story, sburke. I want to know what happened to Lt Romaniecki and 1st platoon! I have not played CMSF for over a year now. My intent was to stick to the newer titles and come back to CMSF after it was upgraded to the new engine. However after reading through your battle narration and looking at the screen shots I think I will have to give it another try. Just when I think I'm done ...... I get pulled back in.

I finished Gates of Warsaw a few weeks ago but RL was to busy to post. It was a great scenario. I know there is a newer and better version of this scenario (Gates of Warsaw Redux) so I will not go into to much detail on this older version. I look forward to the winter when things slow down some and maybe I can try the Redux version. Below are a few screen shots and comments:
SPOILER ALERT
/////////////////////
////////////////////
///////////////////
I used economy of force to concentrate the main effort on the right flank. The Panzer IV Platoon secured the left flank from approximately phase line #2. In the center the pioneers, one platoon of grenadiers and one platoon of Panthers secured the town of Zwierzynic. I used an isolation smoke screen and attacked on the right flank. The first screen shot is of the action on the right flank to include the smoke screen. The approaches to Radymin were secured.
The Soviets counter attacked with T-34/85s. However they moved their tanks out of cover and basically charged across an open area. I think they were moving in the direction of the town of Zwierzynic. The Panthers fired from stationary and partially concealed, hull down positions, where possible. I lost some Panthers but the two attacking groups of T-34/85s were destroyed. If this had been a PBEM battle my PBEM opponent would have had the T-34/85s in hull down positions and made me pay a higher price in men, equipment and time. Below is a screen shot of the Soviet T-34/85 group I designated as Tango Group #1.
I reached the approaches Wolomin but ran out of time before I could clear it.
Very nice job PanzerMike. I'm sure the Redux version is even better.

Thanks mate. Those unit icons are ones that I have made and I'll put a link below for you.

Thanks Johnsy. I installed your unit icon mods for CMBN, CMFI and CMRT. Very nice job.

Johnsy, nice AAR. What mod are you using for the military symbols (unit icons) and where did you get the mod from? Thanks.
-
Cool pic MOS a real group of stragglers!!!
One of the reasons they look cool is because they are wearing your helmet mod. And their destroyed vehicles have your hit decal mod on them. (In fact some of the vehicles have several of your hit decals on them) Thanks for taking the time to mod and share. The mods really improve the game immersion. Not to mention the cool screen shots.

This a screenshot taken while playing PanzerMike’s scenario Gates of Warsaw. A scenario that I highly recommend. PanzerMike also just updated it so the scenario should be even better than the version this screenshot was taken from. With pointers on Photobucket editing from RepsolCBR I now have desktop wallpaper to remind myself what happens when tanks are not properly supported by infantry.

I am enjoying the scenario and have reached Phase Line #3. I noticed the scenario has multiple occupy victory locations (two) that are a reasonable size. I understand from reading other threads that having multiple occupy victory locations, that are not too big, discourage gamey behavior. Also, as you can see below, I lost my first Panther. Now I have to locate what I think was probably an anti-tank gun. (Not even a sound contact on whatever it was that hit the Panther)

This battle took place at 04.15 hours. The sun was just above the horizon.
The german advantage during low light conditions for sure seems to be in the game...
I wounder if sunglare is also modled ? The russians where attacking strait into the sun...
About a year ago in a PBEM game in CMBN my opponent had to fight looking into the sun and complained terribly about the difficulty of spotting. Since that PBEM battle we play during a time frame when neither one of us has the sun in his eyes. Also if you go to camera level one, down where the troops are, and look into the sun the glare is very irritating. So yes, I believe sun glare is modeled.
That reminds me, on a different thread http://www.battlefront.com/community/showthread.php?t=115073&highlight=house+rules
people were talking about rules to fight the AI that would allow for a better more challenging fight. You could have your own troops fighting into the sun against the AI. That also would probably help the AI put up a better fight.

Were there safety handles on smoke candles discharged from vehicles? Doesn't seem likely.
Michael
I would not expect a vehicle smoke canister to have a handle. But I really don't know. Maybe a smoke canister grog would know.

It's actually pretty easy. See the number of the post in its upper right hand corner? If you click on that it will open a window with just that post. Copy its URL in your browser and then put that in your new post and hey presto! you're done.
Michael
Thanks for taking the time to explain that. I really do appreciate it. Left to my own devices it might have been another year before I figured it out. (I was wondering how people were getting the URL for an individual post) Now to test it.

Look it worked! Thanks again.

Yes, this would be the only "modern" title to really get me on board.
'CM Fulda Gap' - I would buy it in a heartbeat.
YES!!! CM Fulda Gap!!!

Great video. It is like watching an episode from the mini-series Band of Brothers. It is also a great promotion for the game. I would think anybody who watches this video and has the slightest interest in history / military / WWII would want to buy the game.
