  1. I disabled the "CUSTOM_SOUND" entry in the campaign customization settings and everything works fine now. Looking really great! Thanks for the campaign, Battlefield!
  2. When starting the campaign in AOC (1.02) I receive the following errors: FAILED(sound: initialize_naval_attack_buffer): 0x80070057 "Wrong Parameter" FAILED(on_menue_command): 0x80070057 FAILED(on_left_button_up) segmentation violation The standard game works fine, anyone else having this problem?
  3. I think it's only for the AoD Expansion. Looking really great, nice to see some more asian-focused scenarios!
  4. This is looking great! I'm really looking forward to the finished release!
  5. Just out of curiosity: Is there any real reason why you would consider these games a "fraud"? I mean just the fact that you consider these addons bad or little improvement doesn't qualify for that. In legal terms a fraud basically means damage to property by deception. I really can't see how you were deceived here...
  6. I am not arguing that. The scale of a tank unit certainly is bigger than everything the chinese nationalists fielded in real life as a unit. However the same is true for the romanian tank unit - consequently it would also have to be removed. Now as far as I'm aware the unit doesn't even represent a single tank corps (propably about 120 - 200 tanks for Soviets, 200 - 300 for germans) but a tank group of serval tank corps. I'd guess that would be around 300 - 600 tanks. (The 200th Div. had around 100 tanks according to the source you quoted from) Also from the same 'wiki' article you quoted: Soon relations were made with the USA who only slowly began to (officially) provide help and 233 U.S. M24 light tanks were acquired by the Nationalists when America entered the war along with some 48 M3A3, M5A1 Stuart tanks in Lend/Lease from the USA in 1943, and 35 M4 Sherman tanks were acquired under the United States Military Assistance Program between 1943 and 1944. So the amount of tanks delivered by the US alone would be around 300. That's why I consider it not 'impossible' to form such a unit... these tanks were certainly spread thin in real life, but the possibility to send more and concentrate them would have existed. Feel free to correct me in this matter though.... Also in game terms: China can't afford to do research for the tanks so the effect of the unit is not that big...it will stay a 'light' tank group forever. But I'm afraid we propably won't totally agree on this matter. Even though even I think there should be a clear decision event to finance this unit through the US.
  7. I get that. However the chinese nationalist army did use tanks, admittedly not on the same scale but it certainly wasn't an 'alien' concept to them. The SC series is quite abstract in it's presentation of the war, so it doesn't disturb me. I mean there is a romanian tank army. Also the "Brandenburger" Regiment as a SF unit that takes up as much space as a tank army.... so a single tank unit for china isn't that drastic in my opinion. I think you have a valid point - it's just that a) personally I don't think it was impossible (though certainly unlikely) it's an abstract wargame. But yeah, I get your point...
  8. I don't think anyone disagrees on the real life facts... but that doesn't mean it couldn't have happend. The text mainly states that the allies decided not to send enough support there for it to become a main front. The player might decide otherwise though... The SC series is quite abstract with it's presentation of china as a single nation anyway, so I have to admit I don't mind such a 'detail' that much. I think the idea of a US/Soviet funded tank unit by decision event sounds good. In this case one could set the soft built limit for china to 0. After all the historic 200th Division was organised by the soviets and, if I'm not mistaken, the US did send tanks to china aswell. But I personally really like "what if" possibilities - what kind of fun comes from merely repeating history?
  9. Looking forward to the mod, scrolling through the media assets has made me quite exited!
  10. ...or does no one else find the perfect recreation of Moscow impressive that the chinese built at Peking? Really just a very minor issue.....
  11. I just passed all my exams this semester, AoD is released... this is a good day - the weekend will be legendary Thanks for a weekend friendly release! Now.... I think I will be busy for the rest of the day....
  12. Sure, I'd be glad to help. Just send me a Private Message when you need tipps/the unit spirites. I'll try my best to help you!
  13. The units are mainly modifications of the stock units. Not that many changes but thanks for the compliment! I just tried your zulu war mod, really nice to see such themes explored! I like it! I think we all would like to see more scenarios for the strategic command series, so go ahead if you want!
  14. That would be me. It's still a beta so I hope it's not too bad. Please feel free to comment/ask your questions on the scenario. I'll try my best to answer them. Hopefully there are not too many mistakes... Xenon
  15. Can't find it either. Probably still in the approvement process?
  16. Icon Pack AoC/AoD v. 1.0 A conversion of my icon pack for use with AoC. Some additional changes made and some icons improved. It should be avaible in the GC:Gold files section of the repository soon. Uploaded with ImageShack.us
  17. I guess I have the same problem here... "The base game for this expansion could not be found on your system. Please install the base game in order to continue". Reinstalling sc:gc sadly didn't do the job for me. Gold still works fine though. Licensing and download worked like a charm, too. I hope the helpdesk will... well help. Any advice? Really want to play the game badly
  18. Great, I'm really looking forward to the new world campaign. The pictures give a nice impression of the new map, I want more! Im Ernst: Eure AAR's sind immer sehr unterhaltsam, weiter so!
  19. Your walkthrough really cought my attention. Love the detail of the campaign, the possibilities of the new units and the historical events/advices so far. I also like that with Kita-Go you included a hypothetical campaign. Looking forward to this release! And yeah - just like every other sc game it's a certain purchase for me, after all my birthday is soon and a late present like this is allways welcome.
  20. Depends what you want to play. The WW2 scenarios included in the other games are different to what you get in WW1. The original SC2: European Theatre/Blitzkrieg game features some scenarios on a smaller scale and an older engine... it's still fun but mainly because of the WaW and PDE expansions which add many smaller scale campaigns (spanish civil war, etc) and hypothetical campaigns (cold war turns hot, successfull axis in europe, invasion of england etc). The Pacific Theater game is pretty much what it sounds like. Including many smaller scale scenarios like Iwo Jima, etc. It's quite good. My personal favourite would be the Global Conflict game (might be not a bad decision since the upcoming games AoC and AoD require it ) and it's expansion. With the gold expansion it features the same engine as WW1 and the global scale is still my favourite. Really depends on your taste... they are all good games.
  21. Hy, Bill It's about the struggle of the short-lived "Republic of Baden" in southern germany and marks the end of the german revolution of 1849. Basically the republicans and the army overthrow the Grand Duke of Baden (the last attempt in 1848, the Hecker Uprising failed) and are later beaten into submission by a federal army under prussian leadership. So far the scenario actually plays quite well but there is still a lot of balancing/scripting/images to do. It's not entirely historical concerning the strength/details of the forces involved; the republicans have a fighting chance here either to survive till the end of July or even spread the revolution into the neighboring Kingdom of Württemberg by decision events. The historical attempts failed but it's interesting to play with the possibilities of following the conservatives like Brentano or radicals like Struve. I have given this thing a mayor overhaul after I converted it to breakthrough. Still a long way to go but that's half the fun in building a scenario. Glad it looks interesting, despite the unusual theme. Xenon
  22. Signed. I would certainly buy that. In fact I did convert some scenarios for personal use to gc:gold, the new mechanics really add to them (including the awesome "Case Neptune"... love that one aswell...) So yeah, it would certainly be a welcome idea. Go, "Patton Drives East II"!
  23. Now, for a quick update. I have uploaded version 1.2 with some replaced icons and new icons for the chinese (an attempt to make them look more like nationalists instead of communists) + other small changes. Sadly, I tried my best at the military icons but in the end my attempts didn't look all that great... I'm afraid I won't be able to do decent icons there... And now for something completely different...
  24. From the announcement: "Both packs are in parallel development. Assault on Communism will be released first within the next 6-8 weeks, with Assault on Democracy following within 6-8 weeks after that." Still 12 - 14 weeks to wait for AoD..... by far too long!!! Really looking forward to the extended worldmap and the hypothetical campaigns!
