  1. The commentary about the flags on vehicles is noteworthy. In a war in which both sides have the same equipment, I suspect the flags are more to say 'we are this side' rather than a nationalist sediment or bravado.

I see videos with the separatists vehicles flying flags as well, so both sides do it.

I imagine that friendly fire is a real concern and I have no doubt that 'blue on blue' engagements have happened for all sides.

Throw in the rather haphazard training of the rank and file UA soldiers and the separatists and proper identification of who the enemy is must be a concern.

Same with both sides using the same or similar camo patterns and uniforms. That creates a need for colored arm bands or in the rebels case saint georges ribbons for id purposes.

  2. Saferight, do you think that Ukrainian goverment doesn't hire PMC? Why they wouldn't do it, they have few military professionals.

They wouldnt do it cause their broke!!! If you think they would dish out the cash for a pmc rather than train new marksmen and snipers youre delusional. Im sure there are some very capable snipers in the ukranian military ranging fron guys who've been in the military for years along with afghan war vets.

  3. Very cool footage of Right Sector volunteers and troops from 93rd MB on patrol in the fog no combat just very atmospheric shots

(this channel has lots of good footage from the UA and right sector troops)

    More translated stuff from Kazzura

A drive around donetsk airport and a chat with some of the DNR fighters

Shelling UA positions with a AGS and a few OG-7s

Fighting in Nikishino (footage looks like footage from chechnya 14 yrs ago)

Sad to say with things heating up again and the ceasefire officially done there is probably going to be lots more footage coming in the near future....

  4. Saferight,

Just imagine the stunned reaction if someone built that for, say, an IPMS model competition. Am fairly sure many AFV modelers would freak out--until they freaked out even worse after seeing that vid. Speaking of that tank, am quite surprised no screens, bedsprings or what have you are affixed to the turret, as they were at least as far back as the Battle of Berlin.

    Regards,

    John Kettler

That paint job is atrocious and yes its missing the bed springs :D

  5. I am just wondering the reasoning behind the lack of RPG-29, as it is one of Russia premier anti-armor solutions. Is this weapon not used to equip motor rifle units?

I thought the same of the nsv and kord hmg.

  6. in my country to seriously take into account the possibility of war with russia, intensified training of reserve soldiers, we bought from the Germans another 120 leopards version of the A5, buy 70 helicopters and missile systems, part of the forces transferred to the eastern border, is planning to create a dedicated volunteer battalions to guerrilla warfare.

generally the atmosphere is such that there is the possibility of war with russia, nato will help us symbolically, we will have to fight alone.

Yes cause of those reasons i think your countries army would be a much better force to add to CMBS than the brits.

  7. Down right amazing i think this is going to become my favorite of the series.

I want to know though, are more small arms be added to the game for either the RU or UA forces later on like the PKM, VSS, NSV/Kord, SV-98, RPG-29, ZU-23 etc?

Or they are just left out from the unit list?

  8. Took my girl to see it last thursday she really liked it unlike most of the war flicks ive made her watch. She has near zero knowledge of anything military and even she could tell the ending was over the top. I was hoping they werent going to pull out the usual cliches and a SPResque ending but they did cause its for the masses not just us grogs.

Genreally a solid war flick it did leave me wanting more. Guess all the mini series have spoiled me. Anyone else notice jason isaacs (black hawk down, the patriot) playing the american officer was wearing a captured waffen ss anorak like the fur lined ones they wore in kharkov?
