  1. Awesome news FMB, I'm looking forward to your CW campaign. Keep up the great work
  2. Yeah top marks FMB I loved Devils Descent and Die Letzte Hoffnung, and I really enjoyed your story telling. I think Battlefront should sign you up to make campaigns for their releases. One question though, I'm using the mod 'CMBN scenario organiser' to extract some of the scenarios from campaigns for multi-player PBEMs. Seems to work with all the campaigns I've tried it on so far. But no matter what I try I can't extract the scenarios for Die Letzte Hoffnung (it did work for Devils Descent). Any idea how I might do this or did you somehow lock the maps in? They are such well thought out scenarios its seems a shame not to use them for PBEM. By the way are you going to make any campaigns for the CW release? If so, sign me up.
  3. Personally I love the new CMBN. It has been some years since I've played a CMx1 game but I think on balance I prefer CMBN. Improvements to infantry, and especially the individual modelling of each squad member is a big step forward. The graphics are another boon. Whilst I understand a large proportion of players don't necessarily place graphics high up on their priorities, there is no denying CMx2 is a big improvement in this department. I'm not sure how big some of the maps are which dieseltaylor has been playing in CMx1, but I've managed to crank out some fairly large scenarios on CMBN. 'Huzzar' and 'Carbide Carbide' being examples of scenarios with plenty of room for manoeuvre in my opinion. I've also had some great PBEM games using CMBN and can highly recommend the H2H Helper mod, which makes playing online so much easier. It'll be interesting to see how the patch coming out with the CW module will change things, I expect it should be for the good. My advice - for the price give it a go.
  4. Thanks for the info WynnterGreeen, can also ask what did you use to overlay the arrows and other illustrations?
  5. PS i've also posted this question on your youtube link.
  6. Good AAR and a bold move with the stuart. Could you tell me what software you used to make the video and whether you had access to your opponents PBEMs? Thanks
  7. 3 out of 4 are using H2HH. GaJ it is a great program and a much needed addition to the game - thanks for the work you put into it I really appreciate it. I 've got to say that I really don't like playing by email considering how much time H2HH saves.
  8. Merry Christmas to one and all. Does anyone fancy a PBEM game over the festive season? I'm going away on New Years eve for a week, but if anyone out there would like to cram in a PBEM game before then please give me a shout. Im based in the UK and play via dropbox and H2HH. I also usually prefer to play designed scenarios but would happily take on a quick battle. Cheers
  9. Yep if you can get another 16 count me in. owenjdawson@yahoo.com
  10. Well I can't say I know what fixed it but after multiple upgrades restarts and option switching the game is finally recognising the graphics card. A victory more hard fought than any of the Pbems Ive played!
  11. C3K I cant find a 'graphics' option or something similarly termed after right clicking the icon. Any other suggestions? Very frustrating I've updated the bios and graphics driver but still no joy. I am now convinced after a bit of trawling through the interent that the game is using the intergrated Intel chipset rather than the ATI 6630 card. From what I've read the 6630 card and the Dell Vostro 3550 Im using sometimes have issues switching to the correct card for certain games/applications.
  12. I just did another bit of testing by turning the Catalyst Control Centre switchable option for CMBN to 'power saving', meaning it should be using the Intel intergrated chipset rather than the ATI card. Interestingly it didn't make a blind bit of difference to the way the game played. I can only conclude that either the game doesn't recognise the ATI 6630 card, or the card isn't working. I've also run a 3D MARK test which came back with reasonable results, so is it reasonable to suggest that CMBN just doesn't recognise my graphics card?
  13. I definetly have the cmbn application swithced to 'high performace' rather than 'power save'. After your comment I tried tinkering with some of the features and it did greatly improve the game's graphics (by setting the graphics card quality v performance settings to max quality and over-ride the game settings). Unfortunately I got gready and tried to alter the settings once more to see if I could improve the performace again. This brought the graphics back down to earth with a crash and now even when I change the settings to the ones where I saw the improvements I cant get the improved performance back. Ah!
  14. Hi guys, just wondering if anyone else on the forum is playing CMBN with an ATI Radeon 6630m (1 gig) graphics card? I just bought a new laptop last week which comes with the foresaid card and reasonable specs - 4gig ram and an Intel i5 processor - but CMBN is running much worse than I expected it to. I have to set 3D settings to fast and turn off antialais to get any sort of reasonable performance. I find this all the more disappointing because up until now I have been playing CMBN with my wifes 3year old mac laptop which only has a 256mb graphics card and less ram, but the game runs far better on higher settings on her machine! Im considering returning the laptop and exchanging it for a Dell XPS with similar specs to the one I have, the main difference being it has a Nvidia GT 525 graphics card. Does anyone out there running CMBN on a Nvidia GT 525 have any feedback they give me? One other thing I've also found that large parts of the text on the menu screens are distorted on my new laptop. Does anyone else have this issue and can I resolve it? Thanks
  15. It's probably something rather simple that Im overlooking, but I can't get downloaded campaigns to work on my Mac. I've tried to play Devils' Descent and Road to Monteberg, but neither work. I've placed both files in the campaign folder but neither shows up in the game. I noticed that both files were downloaded as '.rar' whilst the campaigns which came with the game are '.cam'. I changed both to '.cam' after trying and failing with '.rar' but still no joy. Downloaded mods and scenarios both seem to work fine so it seems strange that I can;t get campaigns to work. Can someone put me right? Thanks
  16. Thanks for the advice siffo, I'll check out the opponent finder sites. Would you recommend one in particular? I also have a few other questions if anyone can help. I noted in the instructions that MACs can't use mods, is this still the case? if so, is the H2H Helper compatible with a MAC? Do you use Dropbox in conjunction with H2H Helper or independently? Finally, do most people play 'live' via an IP address or are most playing H2Hs via PBEM? Apologies for the long list of noob questions, and thanks once again your help is much appreciated.
  17. Thanks chaps, Hilts I'll send you an email.
  18. Having not played a CM game since about 2004 I was over the moon to see the release of CMBN - having only found out about its release very recently after my roughly annual check of the battlefront website. I'm loving the new game and now want the challenge of playing a human opponent. Could somebody please advise me about the best way to find a human opponent? And is it difficult to set up a H2H as opposed to PBEM? Im based in the UK if anyone out there facies a game. Cheers
