  1. Morthomme,

Earlier in the AAR thread, Bil explained that he purchased one specialist team "Propaganda Kompanie" detachment. A kubelwagen with 2 German soldiers, each with a Leica camera with 2 rolls of film. If one gets killed you do buddy aid and try to recover some of the unused film. If you buy veterans, then the pictures turn out really nice, like these. Don't ever buy green or conscript PK or in the pictures you mostly see their thumbs or the inside of the lens cap. ;-)

  2. The blind leading the blind!

You should gather up with an experienced PBEM player to show you the ropes.

Take me for instance, why, when I finish this current battle, I will have played, ohhhh.

    Let me think.

    One PBEM battle, yep.

Just kidding, please go for it. I am playing my very first PBEM battle on the new macisle bocage map and it is a blast. Time-wise it is incredibly drawn out compared to firing up a battle against the AI. Maybe be prepared for only 1 turn a day unless you guys are single, no big job, no demands, etc.

You don't need H2HH right away to get started. Set-up a dropbox account and a shared folder and then start, anyway, fire away with questions and I can TRY to help or much more smart folks will step up to steer you right.

have fun! Don't hesitate to get started on that first PBEM battle.

I will play you if you need an opponent anytime.

can you tell I am excited?

  3. Well, I was always playing against the AI due to whatever reason but now I am finally in a real H2H battle. There are pluses and minuses. Playing the AI is always quicker and much easier to make happen. Playing a human can take a long time. Maybe 1 or 2 turns per day! But the focus is incredible. In battles against the AI , I would/could drift off and lose the big picture. In a fight against a human you can be more focused and really think things out like a chess game.

Please pm me if you want to organize a QB as a small or tiny battle.

  4. ok, $hit, now the plot thickens, this one half-squad of conscripts was "surrendering" for many turns, i dunno, 5 or 6, then I see the white flags, then maybe a turn later I see one effer out there doing a medic, he unsurrendered and I wasn't able to ever even get near him, I had been thinking of a rescue plan since they had some good weaponry but enemy activity prevented me from pressing forward.

So, I think I did probably diminish his local enemy activity.

Could that get him the unsurrender?

  5. Great AAR, that is a good overhead system, color coded and simple, the "Banemanian method"? TM

I only see one small recommendation, make your side and his side text different colors maybe? :)

For your particular skill levels of FO and mortars what does it show is your best lead time for mortars? 3 minutes to TRP's?

Maybe set up a linear mission now and you might have it dropping by the time they are there? You can get the nice orange diamond of perfection even as far away as 50m from a TRP. Of course you probably know all this already...

Or are you even more devilish and will go with the 5 minute delay and it rains down on his follow-on squads/sections and you make mincemeat of the shaken or rattled enemy trapped under fire on YOUR side of the linear mission line?

    GO BIG GREY!!!

OK, OK, I will simmer down and try and be patient and see how you do things.... :(

  6. OK, found it..I have like how many spiral manuals hardcopy and several pdf's on my desjtop, sheesh...

"Overheating - green/red dots indicate how hot the artillery barrels are getting.

When all dots go red, the battery has to hold down its rate of fire to no

greater than its "sustainable" ROF. Otherwise it is free to use "maximum"

ROF (if the mission wants it)."

so, I say fire away, sometimes slower rate of fire is better anyway...
