  1. I think one of the biggest improvements from CMx1 to CMx2 are the sounds.

My favorite CMBN sound is the Kettle drum staccato sound made by the German 20mm cannon that equip's a couple different AC's ,the PSW 222 and 234/1. I am not sure if this is the stock game sound or one that was added with one of the sound mods I downloaded.

I hope this 20 mm cannon will be in future modules as antiaircraft vehicles that could be used against ground targets. I can only imagine how kool this cannon:cool: would sound in a quad configuration such as is on the Wirbelwind.

  2. Using my FO I had a 13 minute delay with some Nebelwerfer batteries. I am not certain, but I think the rounds may have started arriving a minute or 2 earlier than 13 minutes? Has anyone else ever noticed this?

What was also strange was that the rounds impacted for most of a whole turn, then stopped during the next turn, only to start reimpacting on the turn after that.

I also learned I could destroy tanks with the Nebelwerfer by point targeting on a given tank.

I used these Nebelwerfer's in the 3 hour battle Die Amis kommen !, from the repository

  3. This explains why an antitank gun does not see my panzer advancing towards it through the woods,in the mission I am now playing. I think I was playing with tree trunks only showing. Thanks for starting this thread, and thanks to Wombie for solving it. This SIM does so many different calculations, it is just awesome. BFC will only continue to refine and improve it, with the upcoming modules...Yeah Baby ..bring on the commonwealth pack

  4. So far the best luck I have had with Zook teams was taking out a platoon of StuG III's, that were attacking down a road. I was able to get one team right up next to the hedgerow by the road before it destroyed a StuG. Then other StuG's were made immobile and then I could attack them from behind. I think turrentless AFV's are obviously a bit easier for Zook teams I did have quite a few Zook teams in this particular battle.[bumper cars] I believe it was the 5th battle of the Courage and Fortitude Campaign.

  5. Over on Youtube...There is a nice 10-12 part show on "The battle of Caen"....It is part of the battlefeild 2 series, sorry i could not figure out how to paste the direct link?

It is the most detailed documentary I have seen about the battle for Caen and the surrounding area.

This should wet our whistles even more in anticipation of the upcoming Commonwealth pack!

  6. I like to sit about 3 to 4 feet away from my Samsung 40" HDTV/Monitor. I sit in an office chair with wheels. In front of me is a one of those 7 dollar TV dinner trays that I can prop my legs on. Then I set the wireless keyboard on my lap and the wireless mouse on the coffee table beside me along with the Potato chips and beverages......Much fun indeed

  7. After getting through Bumber cars with a Major Victory, I decided it was time to take a break from this campaign.

I downloaded the single mission from the repository "COUNTER ATTACK Ladenstat. it features a new map. Fighting takes place in open frontier and uses fire and movement. Sounds like it may be a cure for "Bocage Burnout syndrome" SIL [silent internal laugh] that many of us are starting to suffer from.

So there will be many many more add on single battles and campaigns in the future. I would hope members will not get to discouraged and obsessed with this one CamPAIN.

Even though this Campaign was hard. I still utilized and learned many valuable lessons during it,that will be applied to other battles. I made good use of Bazoka teams and scouts[better to lose 2 men than a whole squad]

  8. I started mission 2 "School of hard knocks".Playing wego at elite level. I was way to overconfident from my prior successes in this game and was served a large helping of Humble pie. After the PAK men took out 3 of my 5 tanks,I was able to take the bridge but took some losses.

I decided to heed the ceasefire advice just after K company arrived [first time I ever used ceasefire].the battle ended in a draw, because I took the bridge without to many casualties.

When I looked at the after battle map and saw all of those remaining German units,I gasped.

Very glad I called the cease fire.Even so in total I think the Germans only had like 167 men o.k.compared to my 500+

Thanks again for the advice. I have Just started mission three.

  9. Welcome back Pud. There are also several terrain desaturation mod's in the repository, that you can add if you prefer them over the stock ones, same with roads and walls. and probably soon to be, all other obejects. I do think the vehicles in this game are all very well done and modders will have there work cut out trying to make them look better.

  10. Thanks Steve, I think I am ready to start my first Campaign. maybe "Courage and Fortitude"...

I have learned so much from this forum and it's AAR's.....because "there is nobody smarter than all of us"

Another reason I like this game so well is because as a kid in the 1960's we always played WW2 army and watched the TV shows like "Combat" and" Rat Patrol" where the gore of real war was not shown like it is in say "Band of Brothers". I would never want to fight in a real war.

I just like Strategy and Tactics and as I told one friend, that I view this game like a very elaborate and complex chess match.

The fact that outsiders are calling this game extremely complicatied should serve as a compliment to all who have mastered it. The more you study it's nuances and play it the better you will get. It makes you think and it makes you smarter.

  11. I first played cmx1 CMBO back in 2000 and it's follow up CMBB. I did not care as much for CMAK,TOW or CM shock force.

I just found out about CMBN back in January and when I learned each soldier was individualy rendered and all of the strides the game made from cmx1 IE, sounds, grahpics, real time option. I started to drool.

Now I have completed all of the single missions that came with the game at the elite level. I played some battles as American and some German and did well but had to utilize some very creative tactics to do so "MAJOR FUN" In one battle I utilized the Shermans top speed. I gave him a fast order to rush up behind a panther who was preoccupied with a number of other Shermans to his front. Even though the Sherman was at fast speed it was still able to rotate it's turrent and fire into the Panthers side at very close range [Panther was also beside a building so did not see me coming up behind him] panther crew bailed out. That changed the complextion of the whole battle in my favor.

I play it on a 40" TV monitor with all eye candy maxed. It really does make you feel like a Company or Battalion commander.

So thank you to Battlefront and everyone who helped make CMBN a reality. I hope it is a Goldmine for your company and I will buy all of your upcoming releases in this series.
