So, has anyone actually gotten a victory on Lifeline?  It would be encouraging to know if it's possible.

I threw in the towel at the 16:00 mark. I had basically secured the 2nd objective, the entrance into Stavelot -- but there was *no way* I was going to have either the time or forces sufficient to capture *3 more*!!  My 'battering ram' approach worked about as well as expected, i.e. not very well at all. My Panther spearheading along the main road into Stavelot with my 2 KTigers taking parallel routes on either side of the road beyond the row-houses, with my mounted grenadiers following. It wasn't pretty.

As I knew it would be, Stavelot is Ambush Central. You take out the AT gun down the lane only to be blindsided by bazooka teams as you roll by.

Can this mission be beaten? I'm skeptical. The deck is so heavily stacked against you -- and the 1 hr. time limit is ridiculous.

Got a total victory my first runthrough.  Based on the notes and terrain I decided to use an indirect approach.  KT's led the attack on the first ojective with 2 platoons of infantry for support, everything else went up the hill on the left flank and through the woods to the US artillery position.  Took most the time alloted, but wirh my Stummels, 75mm AC's and the Panther on the high ground in the American rear the Puma's and remaining infantry were able to cause enough damage to the rear area troops I achieved a total victory a few minutes to spare.

  2. Loader's job is to keep the belt being fired from kinking up or getting jammed, also when nearing the end of one ammo belt to attach the next belt allow the gunner to keep up fire.  Also changes the barrel when needed.  The rest of the team is supposed to keep their eyes open for enemy movement from other angles & let the leader know asap, plus close defense if necessary.

Oh, and the loader also carries the tripod in an MG-42 squad.  45 lbs.

  3. Maybe the floating poster is CM's Keyser Soze? Many have heard of it but none have seen it?

Bernie, you are exactly right! I am calling Casio Lima right now and DEMAND the schwimmwagen be squeezed in before the end of January. Sign my petition!

I not only saw one, I posted the screen shot in the CMBN pictures thread (ages ago), so the floating poster (unlike bigfoot) has been verified.

  4. Have just gotten to the 5th mission (Crossing the Dives) and have found a problem.  In the previous mission (Hunters in the mist), the PaK40 came in as a reinforement and was missing.  I tried the the "unload, save & restore" method and that didn't bring it back, but I didn't worry too much about it since it wasn't really needed.  The problem came in the next mission.

Here's what I had on the last turn of Hunters Screen%20shot%202015-08-03%20at%207.48.2

The first turn or Crossing Screen%20shot%202015-08-03%20at%207.49.4

Somehow the Pak & its support team became a single squad and also "lost" the gun".

  5. Mods is "simple" once you know it.

Go to CM Red Thunder.  Two-finger/CTRL click on it & pick "Show package contents".  Go to Contents>Resources>Data and place the Z folder there.  (I also recommend setting up an alias for Z in the main CMRT folder along with alias' for the Data and Game files folders.  Makes it easier to acess them in the future).

  6. One of the beta testers is aware of this. And, real life allowing, is trying to look into it. If you have a save of a battle ending with some units which should show up in the NEXT battle, but don't, please let me know. Use this thread. We'll set up PM as needed to swap files.

I'd also like a link to the other threads which discussed this. I remember it coming up, but couldn't find it. (My personal attempt at retrying the campaign did not get missing vehicles.)

So, if this is broken, this thread is officially the non-official place to post your comments. Err, "constructive" comments...

Saves, anecdotes, what PRECISELY you are missing from which battle, etc. Details matter.

    Thanks,

    Ken

I've go an Engel save game.  Will have to reload to make sure, but IIRC all of the German armour survived the first battle, but only Pz II's showed up the next battle.  (The ATG bug also hit, but the solution of "save & reload" brought it back, so that wasn't as bad.

  7. To any newbies to CMRT, like me: Beware! The Angriff briefing is a head fake. "We can expect logistics elements and rear guard units so this should be a walk in." Really!

I quickly closed my eyes and quit the scenario 30 seconds into it after losing half my light armor. So much for tacintel. I'll now try again; this time more prudently.

    <_<

That's why it's good think differently.  When I read that my first thought was that all hell would break loose after getting through the first line.  After all, what's the point of giving either side an easy time of it in any battle?

  8. Have the Pak/AT issue and the "save & reload" fix works fine.  BIGGER problem.  I had the 2 Pz IV, 2 PZ II & the Panther operational at the end of the first batle.  When the second battle started I saw the Pak issue was there again so I saved & reloaded and the Pak was back.  I then noticed that I was missing 2 Pz IV & the Panther (the Pz II were both there).  Anyone have any ideas?

  9. IIRC, there is a 100% MP44 squad buried somewhere in one of the German TOEs for the Market Garden module. They're downright vicious in urban fights.

Yup, they're in the MG module. Probably the closest thing to a walkover in the German campaign is the battle where you get a company armed with MP44's. If you thought British Paras shot off incredible amounts of lead, wait until you see an MP44 unit all firing at the same time.

  10. I agree heartily with every complaint about the AppStore, but it is a good way (for me) to find new games that I might otherwise have missed.

One possible solution is to use the Appstore to find the games, but then buy them directly from the publisher to avoid this type of problem. That said, I've never had any trouble with anything I've gotten from the App Store, but everything I've gotten is stand alone so it doesn't apply to this situation.

Hope some soultion can be worked out. The base game is great, but the modules make it incredible.

  11. I've managed Total Victory with the Italians. The thing to remember is that even the armoured vehicles that the Italians have can be (easily) taken out by .50 caliber machineguns and you've already pointed out the lack of effectiveness of their 6.5mm bullets. That said, the Italians do have one advantage in the battle, their artillery. The way I've won is to use the infantry to find the US troops, then sit back (aka hide) until the artillery hits, and only then go in and take the position, then find the next US position and repeat (i.e. play them as if it's WW I, not WW II). It's going to be slow, but since the Italian artillery actually has the punch the ground troops don't, it works.

  12. You have to right click on the CMBN file, "Open contents", right click on the CMBN in that folder amd open contents again, then go to "contents>resources>game files" (I recommend making a shortcut to that folder) and put it into the scenarios folder in game files.

(In my CMBN folder I have shortcuts for the "Game Files", "Data", and since I use mods, "Z" folders. Allows quick access for the internal folders I use the most.
