  1. rocketman,

The movie looks cool, and it's always good to see actual period AFVs, uniforms and weapons (have PTSD from the visual disaster of a film called "Battle of the Bulge

Ah! Battle of the Bulge. Even my wife, whose understanding of military matters is essentially zero, questioned the authenticity of destroying panzers with burning oil drums.

  2. All this ranting about a game! Some of you come across as if the problems are ruining your life. If so, then you really need a better life.

I have enjoyed all of the games I have bought from BF, and feel I have always got amazing value for the money. True, none are perfect, and there is a long list of items I would love to see fixed but, so what. Even with their faults I still find CM to be the best game of its type that I have owned.

  3. Just remember due to budget cuts there is no actual mop. Just dunk your

head into the suds, get onto your hands and knees and lower your head

to the floor and start crawling.* (It's works better if you make motor sounds

    at the same time).

    Noba.

*For extra efficiency, shake your head from side to side.

Stick another mop in his butt for twice the efficiency.

  4. Since the blaring music overrides the audio and there are no English subtitles, that's what I think this is. In any event, it shows Polish T-34/85s going into action, in combat and the aftermath. There's some great footage of the tanks moving through all kinds of terrain, with excellent showing of the suspension at work. Also tankodesantniki. Wouldn't want to be the mudguard dudes!

The opening shots show the tanks traveling with their main guns facing backwards> Was this a common practice? What is the advantage?

  5. The downside is that 'someone' has to make all these scenarios for you. The time they spend making your scenarios is time they can't spend making the kinds of scenarios they actually want to make.

Basically, what I see in this thread is a bunch of people trying to tell other people how they should be spending their time in the editor. I understand it's well intentioned, but, you know. Go spend your own time.

my hope is that are some scenario writers who enjoy making small ones, just as some of us enjoy playing them.

  6. One day, maybe you can play the whole war on one single map :)

Anyone remember the entire Russian Campaign game from Strategy & Tactics (late 70s/early 80s). I seem to remember 9 maps that made up the entire theatre almost covered my living room floor and there were over a thousand pieces. By the time I set everything up for the start of Barbarossa, I was already bored. I wonder if anyone ever actually played it through, just keeping all the material in place would really limit most people's ability.

I have to say, I prefer small scenarios. Platoon size seems to suit me best: maybe that says I should never aspire to anything higher than lieutenant.

  7. I noticed that most of the descriptions and reviews of RT refer to it as a Strategy game, while I always think of CM games as the epitome of Tactical. Is the terminology becoming blurred, or is it that they are using Strategic as a way of describing a game that needs thought, rather than reflexive responses?
