  1. Or I don't find that way of playing interesting in the slightest and don't want to see effort put into opening up the game for modding with all the associated documentation, work on the code and the then needed work to verify that two opponents have compatible mods of the same version etc.

None of those other games hold even the slightest interest for me, sorry.

You have a blinkered view of modding.

The reason for a lack of more indepth modding tools and access to code and configuration is simple, it would put battlefront out of business.

People would just crack out mods left right and centre about various conflicts, adding new units, theatres, etc and whatever which would probably cover a lot of bases and planned products in the battlefront business plan, but for free distribution.

  2. BMP-2M, because it isn't made of paper and doesn't explode violently at the slightest touch of incoming small arms fire.

Also if you leave the command team/plt command team/small team in the commander slot within the vehicle; it has good spotting.

  3. To address your point 2) above:

2S9 are in widespread service with VDV units, and is in the inventory of some VMF units.

2S23 on the other hand was I believe intended to equip BTR mounted motor-rifle units, however it has only come into limited service with some MSV, VDV and VMF units.

The 2S31 is not in service, and is being marketed for export.

All can be fired in the direct fire role.

  4. CMSF2 reboot just seems like it would make no commercial sense as a standalone game. "What if" games get stale very fast.

You might get marginally more interest with a historical game covering OIF1/2 + Syria 2011-14.

As a terrain/force pack to reinvigorate CMBS in ~2016-17, following on a NATO module, a lot more sense. Although I have no idea how well the CMBN force pack sold....

Chin that off, a Combat Mission: Fulda Gap would certainly get my 50 quid.

  5. That may be correct from a US point of view but on the other side of the fence, the orbat of a BTG has/can have attached an EW platoon from the Bde EW Coy - which consists of 3-4 ground based comms and GPS jamming stations based on the mtlb-u chassis, specifically fielded and deployed as a formation.

The point of them being purchasable was to give the player the choice, if its a preset thing before the game nobody will use it.
