  1. I believe the tournament would be even better with more players. Perhaps the beta testers who gave us such a helpful AAR and those who helped refine patch would consider joining?
  2. Correct me if I am wrong but I believe one advantage to waiting is you may get more players which may permit more brackets and the ability of two players from each group to advance.
  3. Amadeus: I assume 12 players is minimum and you can add more brackets if more players wish to participate. Is this correct?
  4. Mike: Thank you for your thoughts. However I continue to believe that the game would be improved with more difficult force deployment decisions. My suggestion is far from perfect but currently if a country has available MPPs it can move multiple panzers, armies etc. plus an entire air force from Urals to France. Effectively the time frame is two weeks because they are in position for defensive purposes on Allied turn. Air fly interceptions etc.
  5. TO: Design Team. I understand the necessity of operational movement for game play but I have always found the ability to opt from for example France to Urals in one turn with little penalty to be very unrealistic. Would it be possible to create a delay feature similar to a paratroop preparing prior to movement? Thank you for consideration.
  6. In my opinion your prior tournaments have been very successful and I anxiously look forward to participating in AoD tournament.
  7. Bill; Thank you very much! I would have never understood expansion notes to get that result. Regards,
  8. Would someone please explain via examples the new rules. In opening game setup the Japanese controlled city of Wuhan is an 8. I thought supply giving value of HQ at 327/97 would be a maximum of 8 and unit at 327/98 would be a 6 but it is an 8. Also if there was an HQ in Canton and drawing supply from level 5 port would it's maximum supply giving value be 5? Thank you.
  9. I could not find any reference in AoD materials but it appears that a enemy unit next to your unit reduces movement. I have not play tested but I assume killing unit would eliminate movement penalty? Thanks.
  10. I could not tell from screen shot whether Russia gets free units (2 tanks, HQ, 2 Air) that they receive in Gold at beginning of hostilities? Thanks.
  11. Is it possible to show screen shots with hexes to give better impression of distance? Thank you.
  12. "I need to send at least 5 ground/air units to France to maintain French morale." My question relates to above quote. In SCG there is an advisory to sent UK forces to France but in my playing experience it was not necessary. In AoD is there a greater likelihood of France surrendering due to low moral if Brit forces are not provided.
  13. I believe Sea Monkey's comments are very valid. I also respect the original design statement when SC was released that this was an opportunity to rewrite history. However, through some combination of map size, supply etc. the axis must be forced to make very hard force allocation decisions which currently do not exist. I would say to Big Al that he may be one of those very few elite allied players that seem to accomplish the impossible but both Dave and I typically have two or three mirror matches of the 1939 campaign going simultaneous. We have seen pre-emptive allied invasions of Indo China, Thailand, DEI, Turkey, Norway, Sweden, Spain and for even very good allied players nothing works. For instances in Spain or France a rail gun and bomber negate allied supply and very experienced axis Tac B kill one or two key units a turn. I believe both Dave and I accept the current SCG for what it is and it has provided much fun. However we both desperately want some playing balance and in my case irrespective of historical outcome.
  14. I would like to echo Dave's frustration with the playing imbalance in all of the SC products. I like Dave have had many hours of fun gaming with SC products and hope to continue with AoD. My only goal is to share information to improve the SCG modes. Currently with the possible exception of a few elite allied players the allies never win. Thus each match gets decided by which axis was most dominate. Every experienced proficient axis player adopts the same strategy which is to single mindedly kill China and Russia which ends game. In my opinion this imbalance is due to four factors. First the map size in Russia and China is too small. The axis can isolate the Chinese behind Lanchow and the Russians in Urals by 1942. From that point factor two takes over which is that the very experienced axis units cannot be moved. They cannot be moved because neither the Russians or Chinese can build an effective air force to help bleed away axis experience and as Dave referenced you get tank on tank odds that offer no hope. The third factor is the fallacy that the allies have superior MPPs. By the time the axis has conquered Russia and China in 1943 the MPPs must be about equal. The fourth factor is inadequate supply in liberated countries or those conquered by allies. The allies can land in Spain or France with superior numbers but the high axis supply dominates. All of this is compounded by impossible victory rules. If all the axis needs to get a tactical victory is possession of one of four capitals the game is over before it starts. As Dave referenced the Japanese home island is very safe.
  15. If anyone has the computer skills to organize a tournament I would volunteer any administrative contribution I could provide. Based upon level of discussion in forum and players I have been playing I think there would be considerable interest. Many playerss currently have 1.02 matches underway so unless players would be comfortable with two versions on their computers a 1.02 tournament might be best.
  16. Is there a list of Industrial Centers under scripts or other location?
  17. Japan/China adjustments: Personally I do not support unit or force pool adjustments due to the high possibility of unintended consequences. I believe Japan should be able to conquer China but the reward should be the elimination of a threat from China and the need of a large garrison rather than turning Japan into a super power. To accomplish this goal I believe the on going MPPs post surrender and the plunder must be greatly reduced. Options: 1) All non rail line cities should be reduced to 3 reflecting limited use of resource and mines should be destroyed again reflecting worthlessness without rail access. 2) Plunder should be greatly reduced from 800-1000 to 300-400. This would be consistent with inability of Japan to use Chinese resources. Further I believe the current unrealistic entery by Japan into Russia at Urals without any rail access for thousands of miles should be eliminated. Reducing the cities to level 3 should help but perhaps some other adjustment.
  18. Under Editor Changes is there a maximum to Chinese 10 MPPs increase per turn?
  19. I have just finished a poor performance in Gold tournament and would like to see if I could apply lessons learned. I would appreciate an experienced player for mirror Gold match. Please no top tier players! I was just walked all over and need time to rebuild ego:confused:.
  20. I appreciate comments on potential reason for retreat but my occurance was different. To the best of my memory the army at 156/23 was destroyed and Chengchow was captured. Immediately following in the next turn the corp. at 152/21 and 152/22 both with HQ next to them and no prior assualt retreated on first assualt. Both are behind river and in hill. Seems like a good defensive position that should hold.
  21. The corp. had a HQ next to them. Probably 8 or 9 supply.
  22. I am in a game were two Chinese corp. behind the northern river line by fortress both retreated on first attack by Japanese. There was no unit switching for multiple attacks. Total northern defense crumbled. Has anyone else experienced such "in my opinion" a ridiculous result?
  23. In Gold 1.01 standard 1942 and 1943 campaigns Venice is an alternate capital. In standard 1939 campaign it is not alternate capital. Is this deliberate or a bug?
  24. I would very much enjoy participating in a 1.01 Gold tournament. Some of us have been holding off playing matches because of bugs (primarily China) in original Gold. Perhaps tournament could start somewhat after release of 1.01.
