  1. I don't own Pacific Theater but I would suggest playing the Pacific Theater using a copy of Global War since it represents the latest iteration of the game engine. Perhaps some kind soul could post a pacific theater only mod for Global.
  2. Thanks. I've also been trying to fix the Reichskommiseriat Ukraine option. When I spend all those MPPs nothing really seems to happen except the Soviets get a couple of Ukrainian reds. There are still partisans showing up in the Ukraine despite the existence of the Reichskommiseriat Ukraine. I'll post if I find anything worth mentioning unless. of course, you have already fixed it. Thanks again for a great mod that continues to challenge me no matter how many times I play it.:cool:
  3. You can fix the Paris looting decision/event by copying the London decision/event and changing the text and other needed parameters. Perhaps the image was causing the problem?
  4. This is also configurable. You can raise or lower the maximum research levels in the editor. So, when you get some feel for how the system works you can use the editor to explore other possibilities:)
  5. I would think it is more balanced with a human opponent than vs the AI. The AI cheats a little but is also fairly predictable. One thing I really like about this mod is the random variants. This keeps the game from running into a perfect plan rut.
  6. You have to use a combined services/arms approach. First you pound it with everything you've got like tac bombers, battleships and artillery. This will weaken the unit and if you use strategic bombing you can also reduce the supply state. When done properly, you should have no problem taking Copenhagen, Gibraltar or Malta.
  7. Somewhere I have a map of all the double track rail lines in Europe but I am not sure where it has gone to...too many intervening moves:(. A good source is the National Geographic map of Europe and North Africa. It is an equal-area projection which makes it ideal for map making. The best one is the one dated 1940 or 1939. It accurately shows all of the prewar boundaries. There is a copy of that one on the National Geographic CDs but it cannot be printed or copied except by screen capture.   8. Well, I found the real reason why my U-boat bases were staying at 5 instead of going to 8. Since I did not attack through the Benelux countries I had no rail line from France back to Berlin. Sorry for the unintended misinformation. The map is missing a lot of historical rail lines which were double track/high traffic lines. I'm assuming they are missing as part of a deliberate design decision to limit supply across Europe and North Africa.
  9. Can you be specific as to what the circumstances are? I am playing Axis vs Allied AI. It is Fall 1941 and France fell in late 1940. I am playing as experianced with +2 for the AI.
  10. I actually put in some more rails but the problem persisted. That is why I think it is related to the efficiency of occupied France. Just my opinion.
  11. I am playing version 2.2. The decision event for looting Paris still looks funky. The decision comes up with no text at all. It does work though. The French ports are stuck at 5 because they are only at 50% efficiency. Even though your script makes them German they still carry forward the efficiency of 50% for occupied France. I don't know if the efficiency can be set by a script but this would be the solution or setting occupied France to a higher efficiency. Another weird AI thing happened yesterday. Two British battleships sailed through the Danish straits and attacked a German cruiser in the Baltic. At the time Sweden and Norway were Axis allies but Denmark was still neutral (though leaning toward the Axis). Seems like a gross violation of Danish neutrality a la the "Altmark incident". Great mod! Doesn't look like I'm going to get bored anytime soon,

  13. As far as I know, the swastika is only illegal in Germany and possibly Austria. In the US you are free to fly it from your front porch if you like. However, be prepared for the inevitable tsunami which will follow. The straight swastika was actually a good luck and spiritual symbol before the Nazis hijacked it. As a kid I remember a pre-WWI photograph of a distant relative wearing a swastika broach while dressed in a turn of the century outfit. This photo was taken in the US long before Hitler somewhere in the south west.
  14. Some more information: if I save it periodically, the program goes back to normal after each save and then slowly slows down again. It's like it is flushing a cache of some kind every time it is saved and if I don't save it the cache becomes too full and the program freezes.
  15. The editor keeps freezing even after I tried some different compatibility modes. The symptoms are, the program gets progressively slower as I add more graphics until it finally freezes. It's not using a lot of CPU time nor is it hogging the hard disk. Running Win7 Ultimate 64 bit Phenom 9600 Quad 4 GB Ram SATA2 Hard drive
  16. Start => Control Panel => Hardware and Sound => Power Options You may need to click on the "Show Additional Power Options" to get the performance one to display.
  17. One thing you can do is to adjust the performance of Win7 itself. You can turn off some of the jazzier features and you can adjust the balance of performance versus power consumption. The default is a mix which doesn't give you the full power of your processor. Once I adjusted this, SC Global ran almost as fast on Win 7 as on Win XP.
  18. The only thing rockets are good for is pounding targets at a distance without fear of losses. The problem is, the farther away a target is the less effective the rocket is.
  19. I've seen this happen with some mods where a country declares war on the Axis via the AI but cannot attack their units nor enter their territory. However, if the Axis declares war on them, everything is normal. This happened mostly with the US and some minors but everything was normal with the USSR. I would think it was a scripting problem rather than something in the game engine.
  20. Intelligence is also linked to success in research so there is a precedent outside of the tactical area.
  21. One thing I would like to see in the future is a link between diplomacy and intelligence. The thought being the better your intelligence the more effective your diplomatic efforts should become as good intelligence identifies the right buttons to push to get what you want. Just a thought.
  22. I am playing the "1938 Calm Before The Storm" mod version 2.1 and a strange thing has happened. The USSR, UK, and Norway are aligned against the Axis while Poland, the Baltic countries, and Finland are neutral. Soviet units are crawling across the top of Norway which is an Allied country. I would think since the USSR is a non-cooperative power this could not be done. Also, the AI is reinforcing depleted units in the same region with zero supply (building them back to full strength). Am I missing the boat here or does this sound like a bug? I'm at 1.02 by the way. Will
  23. Uboats are by far the cheapest tool in the naval war. Especially if you park them off the US/CA coast where they reduce port values. The AI is smart enough to build TAC to counter this but doesn't place them very well.
  24. By the way project Uranverein came to fruition last night when I dropped the bomb on Washington and Atlanta. Seemed to work well although the yanks showed their legendary pluck and refused to give up. Maybe we are at a nuclear stalemate since they have used the bomb too (on Japan). Seems like this script works fine when the conditions are met.
  25. Very strange indeed as only one of those lines was true in my game. The UK had lost the British Isles but had not surrendered. Iraq was allied and at war with the Axis. The USSR had surrendered. Could it be the conditions are treated as an OR statement and not an AND statement? Great mod by the way! Very challenging.
