  1. Lol. It just zooms to the cursor. What's wrong with that??
  2. If you : 1. Order the transport to sail to the yellow circle 2. Submit orders 3. When the transport reaches the destination you order the units to walk off it then you do NOT know how to use transports. Refer to my HOW TO post. I loaded, unloaded and queued multiple load/unload orders a thousand times by now and NEVER had any trouble with it. The only thing that can screw it up is when you either change orders of the transport after queuing orders for the units or when you actually forget to order the units off.
  3. I actually saw an AI city with 6 Tactical bombers class 2 in it!!!! :-O Of course, I've never seen them take off ;p
  4. they declare war, i've had it happen a dozen times. It's just that the player is typically the one rushing to war.
  5. If you're one of those UNLUCKY people who just can't figure how to use transports: read and comprehend. Step 1. Select a loaded transport and right click next to a shore. Step 2. Select the unit you want to disembark. Step 3. Right click the point you want them to disembark - the effin' circle. Step 4. Hold CTRL+right click where ou want them to go after disembarking. sticky this please, moderated to a more civil tone if need be. >.<
  6. I never really studied history too much so I may be off. It is still quite amusing to see you, the one who always complained how my posts lack facts, talking how I'm completely wrong and how things were vastly different but not backing it up with a single external resource or example. Shame on you. And it's not Null, please. One could doubt your sanity for talking to "nothing".
  7. I don't know who you meant by "these two" as there were three of us arguing, but if you look over my posts and the patch log changes, you will notice some correspondence. Moreso with bug reports I haven't posted. Of course, I think not that it is wholly my doing, but not a completely random coincidence either I believe. I don't know where "get the seeing radius larger for the higher tech units" comes from. Surely, there is not much reason for a modern tank to see through hills or thick woodlands much better than his WW2 counterpart. I think I know what you may want to say, but maybe you could care to explain? Also, I ran a handful of tests on groups. Well, the results were weird and I will have to repeat the tests again. Enough said that they didn't fit the "all attack all" mechanic.
  8. Don't know much about that, but maybe there is some heavy packetloss between the server and the OP's computer that causes the connection to break, sometimes immediately and sometimes not?
  9. rich, I see you're in a bloodrage of some sort. I don't mind some primitive behaviour now and then from people like you, but at least try to put one spark of sense into your comments. My attitude is "my way or suggest better, wiseguy" You can make your own ruleset alright. But this one ruleset the OP is playing is the official ruleset, managed by Brit, and it is THIS ruleset the OP wants changed. The only thing we can do about THIS ruleset is discuss possible changes that might fix what OP thinks is the problem (and hope Brit reads that). I have given arguments why I think there is nothing wrong with artillery shooting at ships, even though I'm fully aware most AT guns and howitzer didn't quite match the range of ship cannons. I have given arguments why fixing that towards realism would sophisticate the game more than it would help. At this point I would like to remind you, rich, that it is YOU who is b!tching everywhere about how complicating the game is the road to Hell. Do you have anything constructive to say at all? And please don't blame it on resources again.
  10. As he says. With the 1900-2030 official ruleset, only two things could be done if your complaint was to be taken into consideration: 1) Reduce artillery ranges against ships, then reduce battleship/cruiser ranges against ground units. Which will lead to further sophistication of the game. "WTF why are there four different circles around that ship/artillery unit? which one's which? lol, wth?" 2) create new coastal batteries unit - which will, again, sophisticate the game even further, because a combo of SAM sites + coastal batteries would lock an island down completely. In Normandy, allies landed because they used a huge number of fast and small transports, that were just too fast and too many for cannons to take out. We don't have that unit, we have slow and expensive (production cost-wise) transports that die like flies. Moreover, the combat system makes all units simultaneously shoot all enemy units they have in range, so one coastal battery would wipe a dozen transports in split second. So a ton of further tweaking would have to be brought in. It just has to be like that. You just have to watch out where you order your ships to sail about.
  11. Well, yeah, why not. Give artillery minimal range against ships. Let's enjoy the battleships raping everything some more. I am sure history had a million examples of heavily defended coastal cities conquered by invincible battleships sailing into the port in full daylight, blasting away all the dozens of tanks and infantry and artillery that for some reason could not even fart at them.
  12. I just handled an idea how that could be done. You don't like it, you don't have to. And I said twice at least, I don't have any problem with no resources option in the game. In fact, I don't have a problem with what you think of resources at all. I may disagree, but a problem? No. It's your lack of respect for Brit that I have a problem with. He's been working very hard over the past few years and then you blast in screaming how resources are sh!t and you WANT to be able to play without them. A little 'please' , 'in my opinion' or 'I would like' instead of 'I want' and you can have anything you want requested without any rudeness on my part. I may add my two cents what I think of your idea - it is a forum, isn't it - but I know my opinion is my opinion and Brit has his own. And it is him coding the game, not me. Just show some respect for Brit in what you're saying and how you're saying it. That is all.
  13. At least it's not about those poor resources this time.
  14. http://www.battlefront.com/community/showthread.php?t=89086
  15. Set food and oil required for all units to zero, city consumptions to zero, take all resources from the map and you're set.
  16. That's what you think. Now stop whining and please go play ED like you said you would. Period.
  17. That's what happens when the resources are not balanced.
  18. I believe that to be the reason. AI battles pretty effectively, only that it usually doesn't chose to battle the player first. Maybe it's exactly because I chose to keep all cities garrisoned.
  19. Yet another suggestion. Please make it possible to queue big ships when shipyard is nearing completion. It is annoying to have shipyard with 0.1/4.0 turns left to complete and yet having to wait for the next turn to queue that cruiser or BB.
  20. I've won about 5 such games after losing my first. I have also quitted from two, because I would clearly win anyway (ehm... 8 battleships and 30 tanks vs 3 tanks and a destroyer, anyone?) but I forgot about the food drain, nasty thing, so I rage-quitted ;p. When all you can hope for is capturing two small islands plus 5 sea resource nodes and then find out that you are surrounded by enemies, you really have to carefully manage everything. If you leave your cities open, unprotected, you will quickly find a transport heading for them. Still, even this kind of game is relatively easy because AIs usually go to war with each other more often than they do with you. Which shifts the thread to diplomacy issues, so I'll break it now. It is, however, some challenge to win such a game, cause oftentimes you will be fighting superior enemy forces (like, class+2 estroyers rampaging your navy).
  21. Artillery - one of the biggest threats to ships were coastal batteries. Ever watched "the guns of Navarona"? Ever wondered why british navy didn't shell the coasts of normandy before they deployed their men into the fray? That artillery can shoot some distance into sea is perfectly well. Artillery sucks at it anyway because a single battleship can take 8 artillery units at once and win without a single hit point lost, which is screwed imo. You can already scroll by holding the middle mouse button and zoom by rolling the mouse wheel. Are you sure you're having your demo updated regularly? Loading interface is just different. It is a powerful tool that allows you to queue a conquest of the whole map, having your infantry unit disembark, capture stuff and embark again, sail to another island, disembark again.... ten times in a row. Just try to learn it and you'll appreaciate it. It's better to learn first, complain later when you know what you're complaining about, not the other way around. I've made at least two posts explaining how to use boarding, so use Search please. This forum ain't too huge. The most I think should be done by Brit in this matter is a more extensive tutorial for using the magic yellow circle. AI will not cooperate diplomatically, that much is right. Use the 1940 ruleset that does just what you want.
  22. I lol @ you guys with 1000s of resources. I have a feeling that you either haven't yet found how to increase research funding or you actually conquer the map using two battleships and one unit of infantry, abusing AI idiocy. Or you're playing against 1-2 AIs. Try playing a full game with 7 Elite AIs, now that's some resource management required if you don't want to face enemy C6 tanks with your class 2 infantry.
  23. When your aircraft is not invisible to radar, enemy SAM vehicles will shoot it down as it flies beyond their view range, but at last scratching their radar range. I know, I've seen quite a few fighters and transport planes go down the instant they merely touched a SAM vehicle's radar range. So basically, if you don't want your aircraft shot down, stay out of radar ranges of enemy SAM units (this is hard, they're usually huge). If you have stealthy aircraft, you can fly through their radar range but merely out of the view range and not get attacked (as long as another enemy unit doesn't spot your aircraft normally while it's still in the SAM site's weapon range). But yeah, SAM units are relatively useless cause you can quite easily lose a Class 4 Tactical bomber against Class 3 tank, infantry or artillery. Only develop these when the enemy has those annoying spy planes flying, when he uses paratroops or when he's abusing missiles/bombers.
