  1. But can you imagine the outrage? It would, of course, be a minority here, since we're all dedicated enough to see the $10 now as a fair price to have it "early" for the time between now and MG. There are quarters that won't view it so charitably, especially if the policy changes between now and MG.

Well its an interesting point ... dont charge extra for it and there are some who will complain that they had to pay for it... but if you charge for it just to play the MG module is that going to put people off buying the new module and effect the new revenue stream that represents ?

Personally I would have paid to have it early in any case but I believe the model does present difficulties in a case like that. I suspect BF are confident enough that price - for most of their customers is not an issue, we just want the product.

Least ways there seems some confusion about it so it would seem wise that BF clarify the thing.

  2. I'm sure that the codes had been easily adopted to CMBN from CMFI

So it's not very big effort, if they had demanded 65 usd for CMFI forsake of the new engine , I could understand but now I couldn't understand.

As I said before I will wait MG module for upgrading with no price

    Regards

Well - I am a programmer by trade - and if I had a dollar for every user that had said that kind of thing to me I would not need to work anymore. Retro fitting stuff into an existing code base is probably the most difficult task there is in programming so your argument is completely flawed and breathtaking in its niavety

  3. Just downloaded and my graphics have all gone haywire. Hedgerows and uniforms are all in a crazy LSD inspired tiger camo. Same thing happened when I loaded the CMFI upgrade a few weeks ago so I had to uninstall that and re-install without the upgrade. Not sure what to do with CMBN. I want the v2.0 upgrades but the new colour scheme will drive me insane.

Well dont see that - the game looks much better under 2.0 and performance is much improved.

  4. hey weapon2010, I have paid 55 usd CMFI and CMBN, 35 usd for CW module. So price tag is not important for me to be outrageous, only important thing that is added value.

V.2.0 added value had already paid in CMFI with the same price CMBN old version that I said

So what is for this price?(Upgrading CMBN v.1.11 to V2.0)

I know that I will get it while buying MG module - as ordinary 35 usd for modules - so what is for?

this pricing has not meaning for me so outrageous for me

    Regards

Because CMBN is a different game. Its not CMFI and it took work to implement those changes into CMBN. Why is that so difficult to understand ? Why are you expecting something for nothing ?

I bought Sins of a solar empire rebellion even though I had the original - it is exactly the same priciple. the other option is that we dont pay for the upgrade and BF dont make it. They are two developers and to ignore the economics of that is ridiculous.

Personally I am glad they upgraded the game and am more than willing to pay the paltry sum (a couple of beers) that they asked for it. Jeez - given the game they have given us and continue to do so I dont get the mealie mouthed critisicm of this. Dollar for Dollar there is not a game out there that I get more play value out of.

  5. Oh, one thing about building mods. BFC could have included normal map shading files to the independent building facades (the game supports it) but it was too little benefit and likely to mess up the beautiful 3rd party indi building mods out there. So 3rd party independent building mods are safe in v2.0 - not just safe, they can be made even prettier by adding your own normal maps shading to them!

The modular building facades were given v2.0 normal map shading so some care needs to be taken modding them.

Thats good thinking - Tanks a Lot buildings are truly a work of art that enhance the game no end.

  6. Good news and bad news! The good news is that according to Battlefront's announced plans, you'll probably eventually get all of that! The bad news is that its not going to to in one game, or at the same time, or in chronological order!

    ..

Well - what they should do is announce a special $1000 dollar preorder bundle. then they can hire a few more programmers and get it all done much quicker. there isnt another game I would say it for but I would cough for that so I dont die before I see it all.

  7. amen on that! I am absolutely looking forward to CMSF 2. Hell CMSF itself will be on my computer for years to come even with the release of CMSF 2.

Amen to that Amen - CMSF is still - even after all this time the pinnacle of modern tactical combat. I will personally buy any and all product these guys put out as far as CM goes. To me these games are light years ahead of anything else we have - as far as I am concerned given the quality - at the moment BF are operating in a market without any serious competition. I hope I am still scanning their website everyday in 20 years time.

  8. One of the design issues with chosing this as the first outing on the Ostfront/Great Patriotic War is the fact that most of the Geman side was infantry units and the odd Panzer Grenadier as the Panzer Divisions were held back at AG Nord Ukraine.

However all is not lost as you have interesting units such as 78 Sturm Division and Army level Panzerjager units equiped with Nashorns.

On the Soviet side there is their quite limited range of armour T34/76 T34/85 KV1 and T70 but also in this area were units such as 5th Mech Corps armed with Shermans and other armed with Valentines. Of special interest were T34 armed with mine rollers who saw their first use here.

Another challenge is the heavy scale of Soviet artillery

Well - that also depends on what BF class as operation bagration. I guess if they mean just the tactical breakthrough phase of the offensive then you have some stugs and one panzer division - but bagration had two further distinct phases which should cover every major weapon system the germans and soviets had so I dont see there being a problem.

  9. Actually, makes perfect sense for BFC to authorize something like this. Game companies do this sort of thing all the time. Bundle packs like this are pretty common in the Mac software world (possibly Windows as well; I wouldn't know). I don't know this particular bundler, but I've bought similar deals from other bundlers in the past, and they've been legit.

CMBN has been out for long enough that the vast majority of people who are likely to discover and buy it from BFC directly, or even via the Mac App store, have probably already done so. A bundle like this may convince some people who bought the bundle for other games in the package to give CMBN a try, and some of these people will actually like it, drawing them into the franchise. So it increases their customer base for future releases.

Note also that the bundle does not include any of the modules, so BFC has a shot at selling upgrades to anyone who does discover CMBN this way.

In marketing terms, you could consider this a form of "Loss Leader".

Which is fine - and I wish it well. Just with BF being so adamant only they sell their product - its surprising to see this and difficult to take it on face value.

  10. JRMC1789,

This should be called the Kiss Your Life Goodbye Bundle! Would love to know how this concept's supposed to work as a financial approach. Were I contemplating this or similar, I'd want to know whether it would be patchable. I have seen the MacHeist Bundle, but the principle there is a bit different--progressive unlocking, huge volumes of sales and every bundle contributes to charity. That model at least makes sense. I simply can't imagine BFC's making CMBN available for a pittance, when that's anything but the way it markets CM in any form. You won't find the BFC version of even CMBO in any $5 bargain bin. Just checked. It's $15.00 and worth every penny--twelve years after release.

    Regards,

    John Kettler

Well thats what I thought. Be nice if we got something official. If there is a key for the game it must have to go through BFs DRM so it must be approved by them so unless they have sold hundreds of keys to this guy at a huge mark down I cant see this being legit. For people that wont even put their game on steam this just makes no sense.

  11. The problem is that is not the same experience I had. Or can your selfish know it all brain not figure that out?

And now the latest problem is that Norton detects a Trojan virus and will not install the patch or has Smithers already figured out that problem too??Why you are so smart. I wish i was as smart as you.

I would like to say some other things to you but you are not worth being banned over.

Seriously - what is your problem. This is a reputable site. The big red button with "Download " on it may be a clue ?

    http://www.gamershell.com/download_95037.shtml

Aside from that there are a couple of obvious ads ?

The Norton issue is just that. A norton issue. Do you expect BF to write a virus checker as well. The norton issue has uninstalled every exe since CMSF - so its hardly new and easily rectifiable.

  12. Can you post the SHA1 of "CMFI v1.01 Patch Installer.zip"?

It will help me because I will know the file has not been modified by a third party

(I am certainly not interested in promo material from third parties).

    Thanks,

    michal.

The promo files are separate to the installer - really - its just a text file and a lnk file but they are in the zip file so the info about the zip will be of no use to you. Do you think bandwidth is free ? Why are there so many prima donnas here ?

  13. After spending the last 30 minutes trying to download from all 3 of your shister AD infested, lobby mirrors, I have given up hope before I end up throwing something at my monotor. IMO I find it sad that you won't even provide your own link for the download to your customers who have paid for this product! And instead force us to play this ludicrous ad game with these rip off artist, mirror sites! That take pride in seeing how to trick you into buying products from these white collar thieves that I so despise!

Well, I went to gamershall. Clicked on the link for the patch - it said my download was ready and then I clicked that and downloaded it and it was done it about 4 minutes. No issue at all. Really - why exagerrate ?

  14. Mmmm, I see that everybody don't bother about the business model of their beloved developer. What I point out is that Battlefront is making a particular commercial choice with the suites of CMx2. I agreed to their choices till CMFI. Now I don't accept that special way of pumping money from their fan, as they did with the WWII Strategic Command series. I wish you guys a lot of fun with the future families and modules, being worth around 500$ over the next 2-3 years if my calculations are correct, based on 4 families with 2 modules each.

Well - I would consider that for me personally - that for all that content - it would be "worth" considerably more than 500 in terms of what I get from it. So its an investment thats more than worth it. Jezus - when I think of some of the crap I have spent more than that on ....

Bitching about the price BF charges has got to be the most pointless thing I see on these boards. If you dont want it - then dont pay it. Simple. Let us decide we do and let battlefront charge whatever it is that keeps them in business.
