  1. They made a real difference in a few occasions only, the most obvious one is at Kursk; even there, retrenchments made a difference because the OKW had been foolish enough to make a two pronged frontal attack against this well prepared defensive position with no effect of suprise and disgressing all the fundamentals of the Blitzkrieg tactic. An attrition battle and trench warfare was the last thing the Germans could afford; the "back hand" blow that Manstein wanted near Karkov could have been successful but never at Kursk.
  2. Very good picture, inspirational when playing the Entente and the Russian Empire; I think I saw it in the game?
  3. The patch was released at the right time for me, thanks Hubert! However I am far from experiencing AI speed comparable to SC Global there is a good improvement. Maybe something's wrong with my machine or I need to add RAM.
  4. Ok, however my current machine performance is superior to the recommended specs so I am a litttle surprised, that kind of game are usually not very demanding on the hardware. Thanks for the help!
  5. I see, I just updated my drivers and saw no real difference. So at the moment my problem is my NVidia 7900?
  6. Thanks Patrat and Hubert; I will check my drivers first just in case, and maybe try gamebooster. If it doesnt do any good then I will have to wait for the next patch. Outside of this little thing, awesome game!
  7. My specs are : Pentium Dual Core, 1.80 GzH, 2 Go RAM, my graphic card is a GeForce 7900 GS. I am not a tech guy, however I assumed that was ok. I tried not running anything at the same time and there isnt much of a difference. I mean, how it supposed to run so different than SC Global Conflict which runs fast? The saved games are loading very quickly and the animation is fast too; its the "thinking" that takes forever, especially the combat thinking A, DD, J and so on. I just tried a new campaign as the Entente, and the first Central Power turn was very fast. I don't know why in my current Central P. game it takes so long!
  8. Hello, The game is great! However, I find the AI turn quite long (around 20 min in 1917 for the Allies); I own SC Global Conflict and its way faster (I realize there is more units and the map's bigger, but...). I did check the preferences that suppose to make the AI quicker. I use the normal screen resolution. I think my computer is way powerful enough to handle the game. So is 20 min AI turn is normal or not? If not, any advice? Thanks
  9. I was playing the "prokohorova final" battle last night (which is great), and I witnessing something a little odd maybe: there was that lonely T-34 at the corner of the map and I had 4 Panzer III Ausf L attacking him. I am aware that the L60 has trouble beating the frontal armor of the T-34 over 500 meters, so I tried to get closer (lost one tank in the process), so I had 3 L60 guns firing at the commie at a range averaging 300 meters and all shots were continually bouncing. Tried to flank the commie but lost all my Panzers in the process. According the data available on the net, the L60 was able to beat frontal armor of the T-34 under 500 meters; was I just unlucky or else? Also I would appreciate if someone tells me where I can find more battles and scenarios, I heard there is a site with hundreds of them^ Thanks in advance!
  10. I support WW 1 all the way; at the moment there is no friendly user and playable WW1 game out there. I know Slitherine are making one also that looks good. I own both SC Global and CEAW since they are my kind of game with good interface and gameplay. So I say more WW 1 games because it has been overlooked for long enough.
  11. Oh ok I see, sorry I didnt know. So how in the big campaign will the tank be represented?
  12. Also representing armor into armoured corps is unrealistic; tanks werent used into formations bigger than battalions or a regiment at the best (The Royal Tank Regiment as an exemple). When I saw that pic with British Infantry Corps along 3 "Armored Corps" of Mark 1 tanks I was thinking we have a little problem there. I realize however that the scale of the game is at the corps level and that an easy way to represent tanks in the game can be problematic.
  13. it seems I finally had a breaktrough beginning 1945 for heavy tanks, that was about time! Same thing for Advanced Air. It wasnt that slow for the Brits and Russians but finally I got my tanks
  14. However I invested alot in US Heavy Tanks I am still stuck with M3s by the end of 1944, they are cut to pieces by the Panzers. I suspect a bug for Advanced Aircraft also. Thanks
  15. In my last games as the Axis I spent quite alot on diplomatics actions, I noticed some patterns: I usually have some success with Turkey, but for Nationalist Spain, forget it, the only way to get them in the war is with the event not creating Vichy France. It make sense because Franco asked for so much to Hitler that many says it was a way to stay out of the war. However, by investing alot on Spain we should be able to get her in the war, at least before the end of a game. For Japan its not worth making Thailand Axis because it is so easy to conquer. My two cents
  16. Also, give you time to learn and experience stuff. I have been playing wargames since the early 90's and, depending on the game, your first game (and sometimes more) is (and should) always a learning one and I dont expect victory at all. If you beat the hell out of the AI on first game, then there is a problem with it!
  17. Gotcha, I knew what a CAP was, I was just wondering what was the relation with carrier mode, now Its all clear, thanks alot!
  18. Here you explained about the carrier mode, but how about the CAP? I am still a little confused about the difference about carrier mode and CAP?
  19. Mmm, also I myself noticed that the US seems to deploy carriers and subs around Lima (Peru has joined the Axis) even if they have destroyed the Peruvian corps in Lima. They should use theses units against Japan instead.
  20. Well in my opinion, even if I know there was no AT or AA at the corps level historically (USSR had artillery divisions however) I think they are relevant in the game as they can represent emphasis on AA defense or artillery or rockets. The thing is that artillery is most useful for Japan in China since the Chineses have strong defensive positions and that it rains half of the year so tac bombers cant provide reliable support. Also it gives the game more flavour and a good ol Panzer General feel, which is a very good thing
  21. You are right Hubert, I could build art, AT and AA all along, I just didnt realized I could. Thanks!
