Red Rage got a reaction from antaress73 in question about weapon optics
Way too much work with uncertain results. Especially when an extra  BMP-3 w/APS can be had for the same amount of points, comes with two boomsticks, has smoke and can be deployed anywhere on the map within a minute

And bunching up vs US (even in AI form)? I learned some hard lessons with that on at least 10 separate occasions. That arty comes fast and then keeps on dogging you. Literally everything and everyone can call in arty on you faster than your dedicated FOs and ATCs.

Red Rage got a reaction from Mhiester in What do you think the first module of Black Sea would be?
    Realistic expectations:

We'll probably see VDV if we are lucky and either an extra NATO country or a US branch. If we are unlucky - a couple of added Russian vehicles and either an extra NATO country or a US branch. A (really) short campaign or two to demo the new toys.

    Wishful thinking:

-Legacy kit  from all the previous Shock Force titles and Afghanistan. Going to inferior module A to play with T-55 and then going to new and shiny module B for T-64 is extremely annoying. I wouldn't mind (modded) Arma-like encyclopedia/sandbox of kit, which was not necessarily attached to specific formations or the canon "storyline". This will allow to take scenarios way beyond Ukraine and simulate practically anything from the last 30 years. I honestly cannot tell any difference in quality between SF and BS as far as vehicle poly counts and ingame performance go, so a straight up conversion shouldn't look out of place.

-Building up on the last point, it would be nice to see circa 1999-2004 infantry formations for both Rus and US to greatly expand scenario options.

-Shock Force and Afghanistan terrains (which can pass for Tajikistan, Chechnya, Dagestan and Afghanistan).

-Uncons of DNR variety (i.e., with proper formations and support assets) as well as the more durka-durka types. Civilian vehicles for uncons (small buses/vans/suvs in particular)

-More defensive structures (e.g., Concrete panel blockpost, sandbag blockpost, ability to "dig in" inside buildings and etc.)

-CMBB tunneling brought back without the random egress point factor to increase infantry mobility and survivability (i.e., most major buildings connected by sewage grids in city maps and an ability to purchase trench-like "tunnels" for villages and small cities to connect various structures).

-More Air-defense assets! Mostly useless as far as gameplay value goes, since most players would purchase arty over air assets, but seeing them work is fun, they look cool, and can also be made into authentic mission objectives. S-300 battery would be jawdropping (if a little overkill), but I'd be super happy with just Tor and Pantsir.

-Infantry overhaul for urban combat (stacking, throwing grenades prior to entry, more aggressive breaches).

-Distinguishing visual characteristics for recon troops (and possible future special forces). Gorka/bandanas for Rus and bush hats for US + camo faces even daytime for everyone would do the trick to capture the essence imho.

Red Rage got a reaction from Baneman in Windows 10 - CM Compatibility?
    Win10 is progress?

If you are serious about gaming and performance on your PC, Win 7 64-bit is the system to have at the moment. Just like XP was before the updates stopped and Win 7 finally matured in its 64 bit form.

Newer is not always better. Vista was a trainwreck, 8 was a trainwreck and 10 is just rehashed 8. Those systems are fine if you treat your PC as a smartphone and use it to organize your photos, browse Facebook and utilize all those useless apps. If you are running an overclocked gaming beast, where you require total control with simple interfaces, they are guano.

Red Rage got a reaction from Bydax in European Council Of Foreign Relations - Good General Summary On Ukraine War
Face-desk at  "...Russia deployed about 150,000 soldiers on the Russian-Ukrainian border. Around half of the forces were paramilitary forces of Russia’s Ministry of the Interior and the Ministry for Emergency Situations. ", and then it just got worse from there.

Not only is the number utter BS, unless 500-600km deep into Russia is considered the "Russian-Ukrainian border", with most of the Western military district included, but calling the Russian EMERCOM paramilitary and lumping them with soldiers is just too much. Reminded me of the infamous  headline in the Ukr media from a few months ago - "Terrorists are rebuilding the railways in occupied territories".

I suspect the article drew from the same LSD induced sources that "buried" whole brigades of SpN in Donetsk airport and "destroyed" Armata columns on weekly basis all over the line-of-contact. For anyone reading Russian sources with plenty of first hand accounts at this point, including both anecdotal and analytical, it's hard to take such articles seriously.

Red Rage got a reaction from Kieme(ITA) in New campaign content?
You are getting hung up on semantics. My goal was not to diminish anyone's work but to point out that for AAA title price, there was simply not enough of it. At this time I played Rus and Ukr campaigns/scenarios (don't enjoy playing NATO) to the point where they have holes in them and simply want to continue playing this great game (with your great mods btw), but there is just nothing to do. Situation reminds me of pre-Escalation Arma 3, where a great foundation was laid, but one was stuck with tumbleweeds, crickets and Persian spacemen for content.

And this is considered rude? Seriously? Is only praise allowed? Is this not a product that BF sells at quite a premium? If you buy a car that is missing pieces, will you sing praises to the brand engineers because they "worked hard", were short-staffed and had 5 other models to worry about? As I said before, I wouldn't have a problem with any of the current scenarios if there were more of them, but when there is so few the quality and complexity bar has to be set a lot higher. Especially when we all know from previous titles that BF can do a lot better.
