  1. Japan surrenders as Tokyo along with Kyoto has finally been brought to her knees. The victory is bitter sweet as I have to admit that I did get a bit of luck throughout the entire campaign and this is without question a factor in my eventual totally victory. Japan surrendered at a good time though, because on the turn she surrendered I authorized the use of the Atomic bombs. I will write a more lengthy composition tomorrow on the events of the war, but as for right now I'm pretty tired, and I just want to go to bed.

  2. I would like to thank you Tim for such a good game, because if the skies are clear on my next turn it will be checkmate. You've put up one hell of a fight as Japan but in the end it was no match to what the Allied combined forces were able to deploy against you. You might have done much better if the GV was at a different level, because then you would have stood a much better chance in India but in the end the British 8th Army saved the Allies from potential defeat. It's been one good game and I've learned a lot from it, thanks once again.

    Back to the actual game, my Aircraft carriers (Brits and American) have been reinforced and along with my ground air force (Brits and American) will combine for a knockout punch against Tokyo where there is currently a Japanese tank unit. Of course this is weather permitting, but I expect that the gods are finally going to give me the green light and the 11th Airborne will raise the flag over Tokyo. The USSR has finally joined the Allies although her entry is really pointless at this time as there is very little for her level 4 tanks to do. In Korea a US heavy tank division has moved in and has deemed Seoul as secure. In Japan my heavy tank unit destroys another Japanese Army division.

The Allies are making a painfully slow crawl up to Tokyo, where there is an abundance of Japanese troops, the only good news is that the Allies are only one turn away from celebrating the complete capitulation of all Japanese forces in China. There is however only 8 turns left for me to capture Kyoto, Seoul, and of course Tokyo.

    Hopefully Tim will make a post soon so that everyone will get both sides of the story, and not just mine.

  4. The war continues as Hiroshima falls, Chungking will fall on my next turn, and Osaka/Kyoto is likely going to fall in 2-3 turns. Meanwhile Tim is frantically trying to get reinforcements over to Tokyo and Seoul/Mukden, although it's too little too late at this point, as a new major offensive which will commence soon will likely destroy any hope of Japan surviving until January 46'.

  5. Guys two things. One I do agree that the outer islands are nothing but a waste of time, but if my opponent wants to prove me wrong then he should at least be given that opportunity. Not only that, but I'm beginning to feel there is a misconception going on, and that is the fact my opponent is playing as Japan, and I'm the Allies.

    My opponent has a big advantage in this game, as he knows it. This advantage is of course that he knows all my secrets that I used against Tim. Therefore he could attempt to ambush the US navy, if he takes these islands out, and if he can do this then he will be able to prove there is some value to these islands. Not to mention the fact that his ships gain experience by bombarding villages in these islands while they don't take a single strength point of damage in the process. Needless to say I do have a different strategy, than what I used against Tim and only time will tell what this strategy is.

    p.s Tim I used those islands as transport hubs for my US units, so if you ever had a carrier in the vacinty with some escort it could have been a disaster for the Allies.

  6. In an effort to finally come to a valid conclusion about the true value of the outer islands, I have started out a second game with Tracy who seems to have an interest in these islands. I'm sure most of the people reading this right now, know about my game with Tim, and that I totally bypassed these islands, as I saw them as a waste of time and resources. However in this game I expect that the outer islands will be contested and hopefully we can finally solve this nagging question.

    This game has already started and is currently in the early phases of 1942, with my opponent claiming all the initial objectives (Malaya, Philippines, Wake, Guam, Hong Kong, Thailand, Foochow, and Burma). My opponent also has the Japanese navy attacking the outer islands, likely in preparation for an amphibious assault. Note I'm on vacation tomorrow so there isn't going to be much added to this thread over the course of the next week and a half or so.

  7. August 9th I believe, there operation was extremely successful and is second only to operation Bagration which was launched on an extremely historical Russian day.

    Thanks, although "the fat lady hasn't sung yet", but with any luck she will be singing right around the historical surrender of Japan. I'm also holding myself accountable to kill every last Japanese soldier that I possibly can, as I stated before Japan created the wind and now she is going to reap the whirlwind.

  8. End of April. Hiroshima has become a major target for our Carriers, they destroyed 1 SNLF this turn and they plan on destroying any other forces that enter the cities. Meanwhile China is mostly liberated, Communist China is liberated, and the spot that you need for the use of the A-Bombs has been taken by US forces. I've also made the decision on what I will do with the vets from Europe which will soon be under my command.

  9. It general I think invading Sweden is a very bad idea, as all you have to do is invest 2 chits diplomatically in the early stages of the game and she won't go below 20%. This of course means that you will continue to receive iron ore shipments. Not to mention once you take Sweden out all you accomplish is doing is nothing at all as you don't gain any MPPS at all until you establish the rail road connection. From there you also had to waste time with the units that invaded Sweden which could have been put to good use in other theaters, not to mention you will now have to garrison your new conquest to prevent the Allies from simply landing and retaking her. In general it’s just a waste of time and resources that could have been put to good use elsewhere.

  10. btw Tim because your current situation is hopeless and it won't get any better I will accept an "honorable surrender", this will likely save the lives of many millions of people. If you however don't accept the surrender or respond to it with something like "nuts" then I will have no choice but to obliterate the entire Japanese population following the inevitable totally Allied victory.

  11. Manila holds on at a strength of 1 throughout many air/naval assaults, this of course denied an attempt to gain an edge over my opponent and I can definitely say that I hear that clock ticking. Meanwhile I beginning to contemplate whether or not I should try to blockade Japan, as I believe most if not all of my opponents reinforcements have gotten through.

    In other fronts progress is being made in China, while a new offensive is in the works (likely will start in 3-4 turns).
