I'll buy it if it runs reasonably smoothly with a Nvidia 8500 card and vista operating system. Will there be a downloadable demo so we can test if out on our systems?

I've gotten CMBB to run with Vista 32 bit and nvidia 8500 card. The flashing problem has been resolved with fixes already posted. The frame rate is very slow. That's all that needs to be addressed.

How will Battlefront address the Nividia 8000 series with Vista issues?

To each his own. I'm enjoying building small engagements with the battle generator and then editing them with the mission editor. Lots of fun. You can build many interesting tactical situations. Haven't really played many of the missions that come with the game, having too much fun designing my own.

I was able to figure out the problem. All campaigns now unlocked.

Please help: I unzipped the file into the users folder. When I go into the game, there is no "all unlocked" profile. When I look into the folder, I see player 1 and player 2 - I don't see player 99. I'm running vista home premium. Thank you.

JR- Thanks for the supportive statement. However, I'm not looking for technical support. I couldn't care less what operating system I'm running as long as it does what I want it to do. As I've said, vista allows me to run all my work and entertainment software with the exception of CMBB & CMAK. Does anyone know how much longer microsoft will be making xp available for new pc's? Their track record after releasing a new operating system is to keep the prior operating system availble for 6 months to 1 year. I've heard rumblings the microsoft will release the first service pack for vista shortly and many of the negative issues should be settled. My guess in regard to CMC is that Battlefront will not release a new product which is limited to running on xp, which will not be availabe soon on new pc's. Therefore, if CMC is ever released it will be a scenerio generator for the CMSF generation of games.

First let me say that CMBB & CMAK are the only two games I own that are not playable with vista and an 8500GT video card. All my old HPS, Matrix, and Shrapnel games play great with vista. CMBB and CMAK happen to be my favorite games. I have no idea how I would install xp on my new pc. to enable me to play CMBB & CMAK, nor would I want to. I enjoy using the pc, not becoming an expert. From reviewing the posts here, I'm of the opinion there are many CMBB players in my predicament. Therefore, the base of CMBB players who would purchase CMC as an xp only product is much smaller than the total of all CMBB purchasers. I'm sure there are many CMBB players purchasing new pc's with vista daily - Battlefronts potential customers for CMC is being reduced daily. It make no sence from a business point of view to launch a new product (CMC) with a customer base diminishing daily. CMC & CMBB must be made vista compatible. "Delenda est Cartago"

This whole thread is silly. The entire premise has gotten ahead of itself. The original topic was... Maybe I've "put the cart before the horse", but I would still like to know (if and when it's released) if I can play the bloody thing.

Easytarget: Thanks for the name recogition. I kind of think I'm older than most on this borard (52). I don't think Foundation is popular these days. I read and reread the original Foundation books all through high school. The reason I liked the books so much is the reason they won't be made into a movie. Asimov wrote most scenes as conversations between small groups of people, no CGI possibilities.

By the time CMC comes out, IF it ever comes out, we will be asking if it is compatable with whatever is the next generation after Vista.... You are probably correct. CMC the antidote for instant gratification.

Why make it Vista compatible? For the simple reason that most new pc's come with it and Battlefront wants to maximize their sales.

Does Battlefront intend for this release to be Vista compatible? Doesn't make much sense to release a "new" program that doesn't run on the current windows operating system.

Loaded the new driver. CMBB remains unplayable. Too bad. I still wonder if CMC is ever released, if it is vista compatible?

Any chance a written tutorial will be included in the next patch? Any chance these video tutorials will be included in the next patch? I'm having a great deal of difficulty getting them to run from the download sites.

There is no error message, the program stops and brings me back to the desk top. My system specs are: Vista Home Premium (32bit) 3071 MB Ram Core 2 quad cpu @2.66GHz 8500 GT graphic card

The "unit" button is not highlighted and therefore, I do not hava access to it. Has anyone else experienced this? How do I get access to review my units?

When I attempt to create a new profile the game crashes. Has anyone else experienced this? I deleted my current profile, and the game crashed when I attempted to create a new profile. Any thoughts?

Well it looks like I'll have to keep my old pc (XP, Pentium 4, 512mb ram, 128mb video card) as my CMBB machine. All my other existing games (HPS, Shrapnel, & Matrix) run perfectly on my new vista pc.

Thanks for the responses. I've been able to run CMBB albiet with VERY slow response time and with flashing in the background. Not much fun playing under these conditions. Too bad - as I enjoy CMBB much more than CMSF.

I have waited patiently like everyone else for CMC. In the interim, I have purchased a new pc with vista home premium (32bit) and Nvidia 8500GT graphic card. CMBB is now unplayable for me. If CMBB is now unplayable, it makes no sense for me to purchase CMC when it is released. Will battlefront provide a fix for the CMx1 engine games?
