  1. Just starting a thread about this campaign for anyone playing it.

Paper Tiger, why the strict casualty limits, <10% I know that worked for CMSF but don't know if that's appropriate for battling in the bocage.

I was one of the playtesters for this campaign, so maybe I can answer that for PT.

The real reason is that the campaign is HUGE, the biggest ever for any CMx2 game (I think). If you lose too many guys, you won't make it all the way through. It would really suck to get to, say, mission 14, and you just don't have enough dudes to win. The strict limits helps with that. Most of us would rather replay a scenario right away than have to go back 10 scenarios to fix a poor outing that lost you half your guys.

The campaign is built in segments, so once you reach a certain point, you will be rewarded with some reinforcements. Bottom line is you just have to do as well as you can in this campaign. If you do, you'll see some of the most spectacularly beautiful maps made yet. ;)

  2. Great map!

I would add a small "ramp" at the top of the cliff. Such that soldiers do not immediately get exposed to hostile fire when the cross the edge, compare the first painting.

The map exploits a flaw that allows units to scale cliffs along low walls (the "ropes").

    Best regards,

    Thomm

I actually had a small ramp at the top, but it caused some problems with the pixeltroops getting stuck at the top. As it is, it's really not too bad. ;)

  3. My wonderful fiance of twelve years loves roll playing games and is as into morrowind as im into cm. when she's done playing, she'll go off and watch all the mind numbing shows mentioned above. Except thursday night we watch the office, parks and recreation, etc. I did get her into top shot, so that's cool. She pretty much hates cm but loves that I'm having fun.

  4. ;)

Yeah, but he's not been around the entire developement time. I can see your point as far as he goes. I'm not saying we haven't had fun, because the game is pretty damn fun. I'm just trying to help you guys not have mental breakdowns over it ;):D. Just trust me, you guys are better off waiting just a little while longer.

I hope BFC releases some of the hilarious bugs that have cropped up when the game was nearly unplayable in the early stages. Once the game is released, we'll be able to play it for real just like you.

  5. BF doesn't release the Normandy to it's CM addicts for the holiday.

But anybody care to compare personal bastige experiences with the dealer holding onto Normandy and letting the Beta have their fun.

Yeah, we have the game, but you must know that we (the beta testers) aren't experiencing the game as you may think. We use a special debug mode that slows things down significantly. When a bug occurs, the game ends and we have to submit bug reports. We also have played with missing textures, placeholder textures, sounds, and incomplete scenarios and campaigns. There is a definite trade-off. We will never experience the excitement of opening that box and firing it up for the first time. You won't have to deal with bug crashes and reporting, reinstalling, and all the stuff we do. Not to mention, a lot of these guys barely get to play at all, they're too busy working on textures, models, scenario and campaign graphics, etc etc etc. These "bastiges" are doing a HELL OF A LOT OF WORK so that when you do finally get the game installed, you'll be able to enjoy it.
