It's great to see all you lurkers chiming in! I know there's some of you who are reading this right now and still not posting... come on in out of the shadows! Hopefully some of you guys will stick around and chat for a while.

But you still won't be able to CALL them in from off the map at your leisure. Their arrival time is set by the scenario designer. The only real way is to just have them in a safe corner somewhere and pretend they're off map, then you can bring them in at any time.

I know its unlikely but will any of the mods to CMSF work with CMBN?
Some things are interchangable, like tracers and stuff like that. Anything specific to CMBN (almost everything) will not be interchangable.
-
pagskier, you can play realtime or turn-based. It's up to you.
-
CMBN has plowed fields as a terrain type, so you won't have to manually create them. Once you get used to the elevation interface, you'll figure out how to create just about any topography you want in your scenario.

New features can often be laced with bugs. It's hard to think of every situation ever and catching them all when initially programming something new, so bugs are inevitable. But we've got a lot of great testers out there hitting it hard at all times. It will never end and the result will always be that the game and engine are getting better all the time. This is why so many of us are so excited about CMBN.

Man that is hilarious! As a catdad myself I have had that exact thought when in my birthday suit and the cat is around. He has been trained by my fiance and I to attack anything dangling I'm front if him. So I'm extra guarded in that situation. Lol! I hope you recover from both injuries asap.

^ That wouldn't be the Seabee museum at a certain Seabee base north of LA would it ?
That's the one. I'm friends with the director now. Lots of cool stuff in there. There's even a few Normandy artifacts in there. Been meaning to go to the new museum. I worked there before it was rebuilt.

In 2001/2002 I was working at a military museum while I was processing out of the military for a busted back. The museum had me opening and closing on Saturdays and Sundays and I was the only one there. They had a computer for me to use and I was bored as hell. I had actually been daydreaming of a game like this for a long time. One day I got the wild hair and searched for tactical wargame and found the demo. I could not believe it worked on the museum computer and had a blast with it.
Later in 2002, I saw it up for sale for really cheap and bought it. This ofcourse led to the two modules and eventually purchasing the whole collection set. I never really joined in on the forum until about 2007, where I've had a lot of fun bs-ing with all you guys since.

Glad this feature has fans, but I'd personally like an Iron / extreme FOW option to not display this info. What are the chances an AFV shooting at these ranges can see if and where its round has hit (unless the target is brewing up or being abandoned)? I'd also like Iron mode to not display the red crosses for enemy infantry casualties....
Alt-H for your first point, and the red cross will only display if your guys see it happen.

It's kinda like supposed to gear you guys up for fighting with Army units in Normandy. Watching the same training videos they watched is something to prime your mind for the experience.
As for my Seabee-ness, I'm the freak in an Army family who joined the Navy . My Dad and two brothers were Army, so I don't mind the Army... too much.

I entered bootcamp in '96 and at that point you only called officers "Sir". I'd be willing to bet that an officer came up with the new rule!
-
Yeah, the current us armed forces only call officers sir. And even though the germans also have guns, our guts still did ok. Why don't you guys post some more?
-
Off your asses and on your feeeeeet! Time for some pre-deployment training!
-
Vinnart, cool stuff there!

I've witnessed THIS EXACT THING on two other occasions in the last two years here. One of which was my friend Meach offering to buy me a copy of the British Forces module for CMSF. I declined, but Meach earned a friend that day. I knew he was a nice guy to begin with, but that act meant more than $25 to me, not to mention he's got plenty of things he and Mishga could be spending the money on other than me. Since then, he has been as kind as anyone, listening to my ranting after my Father's passing. Many/most of the regulars here on this forum are indeed good people. You won't find another forum like this!

It's not anywhere near a "game-breaker". The game still kicks ass.
-
Well luckily for you he is uploading the final version using his 9600 standby modem.
Should be ready in 6 months or so.
Got to love those outdated Business Resumption Plans.
:D :D
Thanks gibsonm, I needed the laugh to start out the day!

Yes. It runs for me quite nicely.

That's awesome MeatEtr. I once tried to make a zombie scenario with hordes of zombies trying to get a well-armed squad. I imagined that I would take a hundred or so elite fanatic red "civilian" observers with an aggressive AI plan. It didn't work out as I envisioned.
Check out MarkEzra's "Scoop's Big Adventure".

The demo is pretty amazing for a boardgame, isn't it? So now you guys are seeing just how detailed the game can be. Sharks operate mostly on their sense of smell. The key to taking them out is to drop shark chaff (chum) and then hit their flanks with the on-map-harpoon-mortars. Once you take them out, you're clear to assault the farmhouse.

In theory we could add foliage like that, but it chews up a ton of polygons and that's generally not a good thing.
Steve
I would like to at least test it out. If it makes my 25fps go down to 24fps, then I'd rather have the foliage camo. It would look really freakin' cool.

Hey Broken, I used to live in SB. Also went to UCSB for a year and a half. Love that place!
