Also if your commander is any good he will maintain even degraded firing capability by moving half of his element at a time. The key is always to maintain firing capability.

As a Paladin chief I can assure you the time spent conducting survivability moves to include reoccupation is negligible at best. The only real time dependant factor is the terrain to be traveled on. I couldn't imagine the Ukrainian terrain would lend much more than 5 minutes at most with your standard 750 meter goose egg. I would rather the devs spent time on other features.

To me it suggests that in situations such as we see in Afghanistan and Iraq, conventional military action may not be appropriate. I should have thought that we learned that lesson in Vietnam. We certainly paid a high enough price for it.

Oh man I'm pretty excited about this, hopefully it'll be release before my excursion to a continent that starts with A and ends with frica. Be nice to take it along for the boredom that is sure to ensue

The problem with that is that you couldn't cherry pick your forces in CMSF. It was choose a type of force you wanted to play with and pray to the CM gods you didn't have to attack a city with a company of dismounted Tow Launchers or AAV-7's with no infantry supports.

Nick (Stagler) I'm pretty sure you're going to be my first victim. As to all the other commenters I agree with everything you'll have said. Probably a combination of early scenario design and the fact that I wasn't overly cautious with my Soldaten? Anyways, i'm just stoked to have the modern stuff at my disposal after a long hiatus and wanted to vent my glee here on the ol BF Forums.

I've played almost nothing but CM WWII titles for the last 2-3 years or so. I just reinstalled Shock force and ran through a couple scenarios winning easily. Maybe it was the scenarios i played or maybe it was the level playing field i've been on for the last couple years but CMSF seems relatively "easy" at this point. Not to say there aren't more challenging scenarios out there but, the ease with which you can shoot and manuever on the modern battlefield against less efficient opposition is definitely apparent. I would say that playing the WWII titles has made me a better modern day player. Anybody else have the same experience?

Great screens sburke. I haven't played the Ramadi scenario or map but I have read Joker One and all the references to the platoons have me wanting to give it a try.

Thanks sburke, i appreciate the replies. I'm sure I'm not the only one that's had this problem and the forum being a little less utilized nowadays thanks to the fabulous WWII titles had most of the threads disappearing.

Forgive my naivety. It's been a hot minute since CMSF has been installed on my hard drive and I have forgotten the correct install/patching order with all modules. Help would be greatly appreciated.

I have had bad experiences with Assault guns in close quarters battle even with other armor. The unfortunate necessity to turn the whole vehicle makes them next to useless in city fighting unless you are just going to place them at the end of a street and have them gaurd it, get something with a turret.
